Woody was old and senile.
Blount should, at the very least, be suspended for a number of games if not for the rest of the year.
No excuse for the sucker punch he threw....

agree, indefinite suspension... if not off the team.
but depending on what was said to him, I would also think about suspending the Boise player for one game... no room for poor sportsmanship, and that sure is what it looked like

Boise player should be suspended for a game. He did provoke it. But the Oregon player has been running his mouth since last year. When you talk, you had better be prepared to back it up on the field. When you talk so much trash, you should expect that someone from the other side might, just might have a word for you after the game. We don't know what the Boise player said, but we do know that the Oregon player has a big mouth and he couldn't back it up. And oh yeah, that pre-game handshake really made a difference didn't it?

It's the person who retaliates who gets punished, time for him to learn that lesson. He had a choice of whether to walk away or punch the guy. He punched the other player and now he will suffer the consequences. As far as Woody goes he will always be remembered as a coach who got fired after punching the Clemson player. it cost him his job and he has the stain of it on his legacy. Pretty juvenile to compare the two events IMO.

Don't remember Woody trying to go into the stands after the game either. Blount was a punk for sucker punching a guy and then trying to fight anybody around. His apology after the game should mean nothing, his actions before his apology are despicable.

Blount is an idiot for punching him. He was being taunted (and we don't know what he said exactly). That does not give him the right to punch him in the face. As far as Woody...Bauman had it coming.

I can even almost see the punch (almost), but then compound it by trying to go into the stands? Dude must be run.

I imagine Hout said something like "how'd you enjoy that ass-whooping" or maybe "I guess you still owe us that ass-whooping" - whatever he said - Blount lost it and trying to go after the crowd won't help his case. It is going to be interesting to see what happens to both players.

It is going to be interesting to see what happens to both players. I see you changed your screen name... deciding if I like the new one or not I know one thing that will happen to Hout... he will have one less tooth to brush. as I mentioned, both should be suspended, Hout for 1 game, and Blount indefinitely (and I would seriously think about ending his CFB career)

I only watched the clip. What did Hout do to get suspended? And just looking at the punch as is...man did that dude get hit right on the button. Knocked OUT.

as Blount was walking off the field and minding his own business, Hout clearly reached over and grabbed him and said something to him while smiling and laughing. When I say he grabbed him, I don't mean that he grabbed his jersey and yanked him, you may classify it as tapping him on the shoulder... but it wreaked of poor sportsmanship to me.

I saw a longer clip this morning before Blount threw the punch, and you can see Boise Coach Peterson trying to pull Hout back, so it looked as if Peterson knew tempers where flaring.
With that said, Blount should be suspended by Oregon before the PAC10 or the NCAA even makes a ruling.

"Pretty juvenile to compare the two events IMO"
Why is it juvennile? Osu fans still speak of Woody Hayes as if he was a GOD and should get a pass as such......uh no he was a sore loser that sucker punched A PLAYER yeah he's a real "Molder of men"............you guys would be the ones up in the stands screaming at Blount from the safety of the stands, knowing full well he couldn't get to you. (save it)
Oh and by the way........I'd kick Blount off the team and he'd never play a down for me again..........

(save it) It's juvenile because the two events, forgetting that they occurred a few decades apart from one another, occurred with vastly different circumstances. They simply don't parallel one another at all. Secondly, yes, many Ohio State fans speak of Woody Hayes as the best Buckeye coach in the school's history. Guess what? He is. However, the vast majority of Buckeye fans (I would actually wager that 99.9% of OSU fans) ALSO do NOT excuse, nor condone, the actions of Hayes against that Clemson player. It was inexcusable. And guess what? Humans aren't perfect. Coaches, last I checked, are human (except Nick Saban ;D), and are prone to the same emotions that you and I feel. Perhaps you may wish to step back and think before talking out of your ass. Most of the time you do make decent points, but it is the posting like the above and the prior post (comparing Blount's punch to Hayes' choking) that is juvenile and worthy of ire. Also, for what it's worth, I would not even dream of taunting a pissed off, 6'2", 240 pound man, ESPECIALLY if he is within twenty yards of me and capable of breaking my jaw with one punch. I don't taunt individual players anyway, it's immature and demeaning (and besides, they're the ones talented enough to be on the field in the first place). The referees, however... ;D

Uh Hayes choking.......choking..........listen born in 1988 guy......................uh no he PUNCHED a guy, a guy that wasn't even looking, "choking"..........and I was watching it live............before you were even a gleam in your papas eye............trust me I watched uncle Woody show his ass plenty of times ( like flipping John McKay off from the opposite sideline during the game) before you were even born.
Listen If I want to compare it to any sucker punch in history I will.............and I just think it's funny that people will give Uncle Woody a pass (like you are trying to do) and then burn Blount at the stake................hipocritical at best.

Heres a good clip from youtube.....
As for Blount and Hout, Hout got what he deserved. As a former football player............hell, as a former athlete, period, I absolutely HATED assholes who ran their mouth. If you win, win with fucking dignity and act like you've been there. I'm glad Hout got jacked. However, even though I received this kind of trash talk a lot throughout high school AND college I never, NEVER lost my bearing and hit anybody unless it was with my shoulder pads during a play. Hout got his but Blount should have known better. I don't think he should be kicked off the team. But he should be scrubbing toilets for the rest of the season.

Enhance! Enhance! Enhance! Tell me again that I'm giving Woody Hayes a pass. Tell me. Go back and read, again, where I say that Hayes' actions are not excused nor condoned by virtually all Ohio State fans (including myself). Perhaps we should post in size 6 so that you don't miss anything...
