OK, so I listed pretty much every team within the immediate Big 10 area that, of course, isn't already in the Big 10. Take your pick - which one do you think is most likely to join? Personally, I would like to see Kentucky join - which would shake things up in the SEC as well, most likely causing another expansion in that conference. But I could also see Pitt joining, as well as CMU, Buffalo and NIU.
P.S. - No vote retraction, so choose wisely.

ND or maybe Louisville would be my choices.

Yeah, I just can't see ND ever joining a conference. I think we would be more likely to see a Division 1-a playoff system put into place before the Irish gave up their independence. However, Louisville is a good possibility.

I could see Mizzou joining. It would be a lot easier to get to the top of football

ACC almost added Cuse. But the dumbass gov of VA at that time wanted VT. Threw a big old hissy fit. I can see the Gov of Ohio or Pennsylvania doing the same for Cincy and Pitt. Help bring that added money to a school in their state. A state with no dog in the fight already. I dont see having a chance at all.
Ohio wants Cincy vs OSU. Penn wants PSU Pitt matchups. Let them duke it out over it. So Ill go with Pitt. Cause Joe wants this added team, big name, heavy influence with it. Could be the difference maker.

And its not like the Big East hasn't been raided of teams before. But then, who do they get to replace Pitt with? Or do they?

ECU is set and ready to replace Pitt. BE could also go after Central Florida.
Alot easier for the BE to fill gaps. They cover from NY to Florida. Plenty of Mids between there to bring up.

Arkansas to the Big 12 Clemson to the SEC LOL, well that would work. We've gotten tired of playing those damn Hogs every year anyway. At least them leaving the SEC means we could hang on to that Boot a little bit longer now. And Spurrier's team would finally have an in-conference rival they could beat.

Pitt would seem to be the obvious choice to me, but I could see Syracuse, Rutgers, or Mizzou as well.

I went with Syracuse. I think this is the most appealing team here... Pitt is second in my mind. I know that Syracuse wasn't at the top of my list of who they should go after, but this is who I think they will go after... jmho

I think RU is the team for the Big 10. They just recently expanded their stadium... and, have plans to go bigger... when the demand is there. NJ is fertile recruiting territory.
Pitt fans are pretty weak. Even with a top ranked team this year... they failed to fill the Ketchup stadium. I read yesterday that Pitt was offering free tickets to the Meineke Car Care Bowl to its students... obviously they are having trouble selling them.

Thanks buddy. I actually joined a long arse time ago, shortly after sadovin created these boards, but just recently started posting here on a regular basis. I used to post over on the CBS boards all the time, but they've gotten so unintelligible and illegible that I don't see the point in wasting my time over there anymore.

You all need to look at this from a more global perspective--not just from the football perspective. Academics, Athletics and the Future will be considered. Here is some information regarding academic comparisons between the schools most often mentioned, after Notre Dame, for the hypothetical B10 expansion (Pitt, SU, RU, and Missouri). Now, that said, I believe the academic emphasis is mostly a farce and that it will play a very little role in an expansion decision. It is nothing more than "coach speak" for chancellors and commissioners and these B10 rumblings are all about the maximizing the Benjamins. Therefore, in this regard, academics at Missouri, RU, SU and Pitt are identical for all intents and purposes of the B10.
However, in actually examining these schools side-by-side, in almost all academic indicators, Pitt looks to be the best of this list. Pitt has overall better indicators and scores in almost all rankings, a better student profile, and much greater research activity, and a much larger endowment.
Just to be clear, these other schools are all quality academic institutions and not that far behind Pitt in many of these indicators. Keep in mind that SU and RU don't have their own med schools, which is one reason they are so far behind Pitt in research $.
Here are the latest available (most are 2008 and 2009) numbers between Pitt, RU, SU, and Missouri. The numbers are only for Pitt-main, Rutgers-New Brunswick, and Missouri-Columbia. However, Rutgers also has substantial campuses in Newark and Camden and Missouri has system schools in St. Louis, Kansas City, and Rolla. Enjoy:

I can't believe Pitt ranks so high in these academic rankings... the smart ones must not come to athletic events... all I ever hear them say is , "did you fuck your sister this morning?"... "who did you steal those shoes from?"... I thought those were the only sentences they could muster...

While I am certainly no Pitt fan (although I am a fan of JSS in a hetero way), I think yanking Pitt would really hose the Big East. But... money talks. CFB is big business and working for a university makes me think that the bottom line is what will make the determination ultimately. Pitt would be attractive for the Big 10 but they would need to work on their fan base for buy-in.

I was listening to Barry Alvarez in an interview the other day (outside of Delany, Alvarez is sort of the 'Dean" of the Big Ten anymore) and if it isn't Notre Dame it will almost certainly be a team from the east, Syracuse and Pitt were the two most likely. Alvarez said things like "we haven't yet captured the east coast market like we want to and another team from out east would help solidify that"... there were a bunch of comments like that but he also mentioned some "national appeal" and some other things, so basically I read between the lines and it sounds like it is eitehr N.D. or an eastern based team, sounds like Mizzou is out before they even started.....
