well, we confirmed that one season doesn't define a program Okay, so if we're wiping this season off the books completely, you'd still say Texas is still more on top of the NCAA than UF? By what measures?

did you not read threw this thread... there is a specific post saying that this is a no win conversation that it is based on opinion solely and that there is no way to prove one team is and one isn't... besides, what is the cut toff for how many teams are on top. I would also assume that perception has to do with some/most of it. And, I for one, have a perception that Texas is a more stable program then UF. UF had a great run with Tebow, but he is gone now.

UF, tied for most BCS bowl wins all time. Tied for third in %. Best winning % with a minimum 5 appearances.
Tied for most national titles in the past 20 years. Tied most in BCS era. Most in past ten years.
More conference titles than Texas in pretty much any time frame.
I think schools that would challenge UF in the past 20 years or BCS time frame would be OSU, Oklahoma and USCw. LSU is close in the BCS era. Bama is close now. Texas I think is clearly behind in every era.
It's fine if someone disagrees, but just make a case for them based on accomplishments.

I agree with you on the overall discussion, but if someone told me Louisiana Monroe was closer to the top than UF, "It's my opinion" just aint good enough, in my opinion. Texas is a great program no doubt, but I just want the case to be made for them. They're behind UF in most all relevant statistics. Would you have made the case before this season? And if UF this season is playing into your decision process, why would you ignore Texas this season who is even more putrid than UF without McCoy than UF is without Tebow? It's like you're saying Texas is better than UF, despite having a horrible season, because one season doesn't define a program, but are then knocking UF for this one bad season (that is better than Texas) as not having a stable program. I just don't see any logic to that at all. Like I said, in any time frame in the past 20 years, UF is ahead of Texas. National titles, conference titles, BCS bowls, BCS bowl wins. I'm just not seeing the case for them like I would for a team like USCw, OSU, Oklahoma, etc.

Don't let Bradipuss get you all riled up, GD. He's just a sourpuss Vol fan, whose team won't see any kind of championship for the next 20 years. ;D
