I think that means he will be reinstated in 24 hours or so. You normally don't officially request reinstatement unless you already know what the answer is. I guess we will find out.

Apparently UGA released statement minutes ago. Todd Gurley and his lawyer thanked everyone at UGA to include the Janitorial service. He admitted to making a big mistake and apologized to everyone. Haven't seen it in writing yet.

Georgia will submit reinstatement this afternoon. I want to see Gurley on one side of Mason and Chubb on the other for the WLOCP.

Oct. 22, 2014
Since completing its initial review of the eligibility matter involving UGA student-athlete Todd Gurley on October 9, the University has been supporting Todd and cooperating with his legal counsel as they review the matter.
Todd has confirmed his desire to seek reinstatement, and the University fully supports Todd's request. The University plans to file the necessary paperwork with the NCAA later today.
“I want to thank the University, coaches, teammates, and the Bulldog Nation for their patience and support,” Gurley said. “I take full responsibility for the mistakes I made, and I can’t thank the University, my coaches, and teammates enough for supporting me throughout this process. I’m looking forward to getting back on the field with my teammates.”
Gurley’s attorney, William King, said, “Todd has taken responsibility for his actions and is ready to rejoin his teammates. The University has been great throughout the past two weeks and has done everything it can to support Todd. I would especially like to thank President Morehead, Greg McGarity, and Coach Richt for standing by Todd.”
The University hopes for and expects a prompt ruling by the NCAA so that Todd, his coaches, and teammates can adequately prepare for our next game.

Bold prediction Florida 3 Georgia 56 Gator Defense way too good for that barring a special teams and offensive melt down like last week.

It appears that UGA had this resolved around 9 October. That clearly means that they identified that Todd took between $400-$700 and he admitted it.
Dawg Nation has not been kind to the administration on how they handled it. I have blasted them for missteps as well. But if Richt asked Todd and he told the truth, then Georgia handled this about as perfectly as you can. The idiots on Dawg Vent and other UGA blogs who, without any knowledge of what was happening, who insisted on playing him are crazy.

I agree that the Gator defense is good, but if the offense can't do anything they can only stay on the field so long before they are worn out...FU has to get something going on offense and give the D a break.

Bet they're glad Gurley didn't play those 2 games now. The only thing I thought they handled badly was that whole "The AD will make a statement this afternoon" fiasco last Thursday which was just to say "No News".

Since he apologized, I assume he did take some money. Can't compare this case to any other because apparently Gurley said he did it.

Its a shame that sports by brooks the UGA alum had to flame out. I am sure he would have had a field day blasting Georgia and Gurley for being corrupt in this.

Sports > University of Georgia > Bulldogs Beat with Seth Emerson Richt is 'optimistic' NCAA will approve Gurley return By Seth Emerson semerson@macon.comOctober 22, 2014 Updated 48 minutes ago Facebook Twitter Google Plus Reddit E-mail Print Mark Richt, speaking to the media on Oct. 22, discusses UGA's request to reinstate Todd Gurley. THE TELEGRAPH ATHENS - Whether the NCAA approves UGA's request for Todd Gurley could just be a formality. The two sides have talked throughout the process, so it's unlikely UGA would have sent it in without a high likelihood of a swift approval. Still, head coach Mark Richt was being careful after Wednesday's practice to do any premature celebrating. "I'm optimistic," Richt said. "I think that we as an institution and Todd as a student-athlete did everything within the protocol of the governing body, of the NCAA. So hopefully all will end well. And hopefully sooner than later." Gurley practiced Wednesday, as he has since the beginning of last week, though he missed Tuesday for a meeting related to his case, per a source. But with the reinstatement request now in, Richt and teammates say they didn't see a huge change in the star tailback's demeanor. "He's been the same," freshman tailback Nick Chubb said. "Was there a little bit more purpose today, maybe," Richt said, adding: "I mean, he was working pretty hard even when he knew he wasn't gonna play." Georgia (6-1) won both games after Gurley's suspension. Now it is set to get him back and seemingly be an even stronger team, having proven it can win without him. So does that make all this a net positive? "I think the bottom line is we keep winning, yes," Richt said. "If we start losing, then it doesn't matter what happened the last two weeks, really, I think. People will judge you more on whether you keep winning than the last two weeks, in my opinion." The situation nearly behind, Richt shed some light on a few aspects of it: - Richt knew Monday of last week that Gurley would not play at Arkansas, although the public didn't find out until Gurley didn't travel with the team to Little Rock. "But now I don't know," Richt said, in relation to Gurley playing against Florida. - The reason Gurley didn't practice the day he was suspended was because Richt gave him the choice, and Gurley worried he would be a distraction. "He wanted the coaches to at least for one practice to do whatever we needed to do to get the other guys ready to go," Richt said. "But the next week he was ready to be there. I think it was good medicine for him." Richt said he's been in constant touch with Gurley throughout the process, not just at practice but also "a lot of texting." And one of the things Gurley told his coach was about his replacement, Chubb. "He said he felt a little bit like a proud father watching Chubb play ball," Richt said. "His spirits have been good, and he's tried not to be a distraction to the team in any way." - The one thing Richt would not comment on was what Gurley meant about "mistakes I made", which was part of UGA's release. UGA was investigating whether Gurley received money in exchange for his autographs. "I'm not gonna tell you all that," Richt said. "But it was a good question." David, you sure are a strange fellow with some of your takes. But, don't go changing. Predictable. FSU is a long-shot to repeat (defense playing like crap) so, the hate will be redirected next season. Dak Prescott will likely fart in class ... so, you know. Or worse, sleep with a blonde. TexNole…Not sure why you quoted my post. I think you played MadLib and applied your own meaning to what I said and filled in the blanks 100% incorrectly. Your post quoting mine makes absolutely zero sense and would like to know what the heck you mean that it was "predictable". Major disconnect, if you asked me.

By wsbtv.com staff/Mark Winne
ATLANTA —
The man who may have triggered the NCAA investigation into Todd Gurley tells Channel 2 Action News that he wants the University of Georgia football star reinstated.
Channel 2 investigative reporter Mark Winne spoke with the attorney for Bryan Allen Thursday afternoon. It's the first interview attorney Ed Garland has given regarding Allen.
"He thinks he ought to be playing football this Saturday and thinks that he should not be punished," Garland said.
Garland said Allen only made one payment to Gurley.
"He greatly regrets that he made the one payment to him, $400, he wishes he never had," Garland said.
Garland stressed to Winne that Allen only made one payment for the signing of little football memorabilia items.
"It was a one time thing, he never had any dealings with Gurley before that time or after that time," Garland said. "In fact he admires Gurley."
UGA suspended Gurley while they investigated. At the time of his suspension, Gurley was considered a frontrunner for the Heisman Trophy.
Wednesday, the University of Georgia said it supports a request by Gurley for reinstatement and filed the necessary paperwork.
Since then, Allen has felt the wrath of Dawg Nation. According to police reports, Allen claims he's been the victim of threats and harassment and that someone may have even tried to break into his home.
"This young man is a fine young man who has been subjected to a great deal of condemnation and abuse for the emotions that everyone feels about Gurley being punished," Garland said. "And quite frankly, it seems quite hypocritical for universities to think they own the face and the name of the people they give scholarships to, and they ought to get rid of these stupid rules."
Garland told Winne that Allen has not paid money to any other college athlete for autographs.
