collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/06/10/352916/He hasn’t coached in half a decade, but Bobby Bowden is still receiving regular checks from Florida State, same as he has since 1976. Or, was receiving regular checks. As the Tallahassee Democrat reported Wednesday, Seminole Boosters, Inc., the fundraising arm of the FSU athletics department, has not picked up the option on Bowden’s three-year contract. “They decided not to renew it. (I) wasn’t surprised at all,” Bowden told the paper. “I didn’t feel like I was earning my money, to be honest with you. I didn’t feel like I was doing enough to earn my money.” The deal called for the Hall of Fame coach to receive $250,000 a year in exchange for allowing Seminole Boosters license to use his name and likeness and devoting 10 days a year to fundraising purposes. While the 85-year-old’s recent comments disparaging Jameis Winston may provide a nice A-to-B conclusion, the reality may be that Jimbo Fisher‘s program just may not need Bowden’s help raising money anymore. After all, the group has retained the right to employ Bowden on a per-event basis, the paper said. “Coach Bowden always does a great job and we look forward to working with him in future events,” Seminole Boosters CEO Andy Miller said.
