"He appeared to be drunk, slurred his speech, dropped an eff bomb. No doubt, he was wasted, enough so that McKay and Haden went backstage and were seen talking to him. He didn't come back. The program announcer and the assistants finished the program. Embarrassing."

How do you let a guy this drunk anywhere near a mic? Someone should have had enough sense to keep him from speaking.

USC head coach Steve Sarkisian has apologized for his behavior at Saturday night's Salute to Troy event, where according to sources he was intoxicated, used foul language and insulted other programs.
Sarkisian appeared to be drunk and was slurring his words, a team source told ESPN's Shelley Smith.
"Our whole team is embarrassed," said the source, who added that athletic director Pat Haden had to intervene and was seen berating Sarkisian backstage afterward.
The source said Sarkisian disparaged USC opponents, saying "they all suck" about a number of Pac-12 schools, and used inappropriate language while introducing his team to alumni and donors, as seen in video provided to ESPN by the team source.
"Pat Haden talked to me after the event about my actions and I assured him this will not happen again."

"I sincerely apologize to my players and staff and to our fans for my behavior and my inappropriate language at our kickoff event Saturday night," Sarkisian said in a statement released via the school's sports blog Sunday morning. "I have a responsibility to all of them and I let them down. Pat Haden talked to me after the event about my actions and I assured him this will not happen again."
The Salute to Troy event is an annual rally to kick off the season and is attended by alumni and donors.
"I met with coach Sarkisian and I expressed my disappointment in the way he represented himself and the university at our Salute to Troy event," Haden said in the same released statement. "While the details of our conversation will remain between us, I am confident he heard my message loud and clear."
Sarkisian, a former USC assistant coach, is in his second year as the school's head coach after going 9-4 last season. USC is No. 10 in the preseason coaches' poll and was picked to win the conference in last month's preseason media poll.

What a fucking debacle. How the fuck can you let this happen? I used to know Sark pretty well when we were both in college. This is hugely disappointing.
Geez. Anyone know if this is a thing with him? Did he do this kind of thing at UW?

Anyone know if this is a thing with him? Did he do this kind of thing at UW? I know he has a reputation for being very liberal with f-bombs. I can imagine those would increase with intoxication.

Am I the only one that thinks this is no biggie? It's a bit embarrassing, but if he wins, no one will care. If he loses though...

It's a bit embarrassing, but if he wins, no one will care. If he loses though... Well, the national media should demand he sit out one game. I mean, it's just as bad as the student union, right?! Yeah but Jameis won the Heisman, he should have know better. Sarkisian is just the head football coach.

Interesting double standard you're taking note of on this. Could it be because Jameis is black and Steve is....um....Greek? Armenian? Californian? Probably the sexism of Winston's comment got people's attention whereas F-bombs and drunkenness don't as much

But then again, Sark's supposed to be a fully mature adult in a multi-million dollar job.

My bad. It is offensive when a person from out of state moves to California and then calls themselves a Californian.

Don't you know it's offensive to call someone a Californian? I thought that was only applicable to those who moved there from out of state. It goes so many ways. Moving out of state and revealing you're a "Californian" seldom draws a positive response, but among my crowd (that has almost entirely left the state) everyone is disgusted with the state almost without exception. Another couple revealed they're moving to Oregon this week and you should have seen the responses from around the country telling them they made the right move by people from back home who previously left themselves. It didn't even matter that they were going to Oregon, just that they were leaving California.

It is embarrassing and in that position you just can't do that. Everyone makes mistakes but damn. I originally wanted Jack Del Rio but I wasn't unhappy with the choice of Sark. I'm still pulling for him to succeed but this is really troubling.

It's the only place I've lived that has made me miss California.

Have you ever considered pulling back from the rat race and opening a private practice in someplace that isn't a political cesspool? (meaning someplace where politics don't carry so much weight in daily life)
