COLUMBIA, S.C. -- South Carolina athletic director Ray Tanner is not "100 percent sure" that the Gamecocks' game against the No. 7 LSU Tigers will be played at Williams-Brice Stadium on Saturday because of the devastating floods that hit the state this past weekend.
Tanner said Tuesday that officials at both schools and the Southeastern Conference have gone through several scenarios, including playing the game at LSU. He said a decision will be made within the next day and a half whether the game can go on.
Tanner said logistical issues include roadways that have been washed away and whether there would be enough first-responder personnel available to handle the typical duties on game day like traffic and crowd control. South Carolina officials are pondering whether to hold Saturday's game against No. 7 LSU at Williams-Brice Stadium because of heavy flooding in the area, travel concerns and if there would be enough first-responder personnel available on game day. "There are a lot of concerns and a lot of things to consider," Tanner said.
The contest between LSU (4-0, 2-0 SEC) and South Carolina (2-3, 0-3) is scheduled for noon.
Tanner said many cities have been discussed as potential alternatives.
"Certainly, a game at LSU is not out of the realm of possibility as well," he said.
The Carolina Panthers, who are based in Charlotte, North Carolina, said Tuesday they have been in contact with South Carolina officials and are offering their support. However, sources told ESPN.com's David Newton that the NFL team is unlikely to host the game.
The SEC Network had planned on hosting its SEC Nation show from South Carolina on Saturday but changed to Knoxville, Tennessee, because of the floods.
There have been at least 14 weather-related deaths in the state of South Carolina.
If the Gamecocks cannot host the game, it would take a significant financial hit. Projections from the athletic department's budget presentation to the Board of Trustees in June showed the school expected to make $3,854,476 from game ticket sales.
That was the second-highest game projection this season, with its home contest against rival Clemson on Nov. 28 expected to bring in more than $4.2 million in ticket revenue.
Right now, Tanner and the athletic department are more concerned about making sure the 80,000 or so people attending would be safe.
"Our intentions are to stay on schedule and play in Columbia," he said. "But it's not a definite."
One area that's not a problem is the playing surface or the stadium.
Tanner said Williams-Brice Stadium field withstood more than a foot of rain from the weekend storms and is in good condition for players to use. There were some small puddling of water in a couple of areas, but nothing that would prevent people from attending if the game remains on track to be played in town.
"We've been spared," Tanner said. "We're in pretty good shape as far as that goes."
South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier said his players, assistants and staffers also came through the flooding mostly unscathed.
He said quarterbacks coach G.A. Mangus had some flooding in his basement and offensive line coach Shawn Elliott, who lives in one of the most badly affected areas of town, was briefly evacuated. But Spurrier said Elliott and his family were returning home Tuesday.
Safety Isaiah Johnson, a graduate transfer from Kansas, said he didn't know of any players affected. He has fielded calls from family and friends throughout the country making sure he's OK.
"I've got a lot of support," he said.
Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

We lost one home due to lighting and now get one from a hurricane.
It will be interesting to see what kind of attendance the game gets.

It might be a chance to get some good seats for fans who never has had a good seat to watch a football game in Tiger Stadium.

I wonder if South Carolina gets most of the gate receipts after expenses? I bet it is more than the normal payout for a visiting team.

I saw that notdpb, but that figure would be sales, not profit. I would expect LSU to deduct expenses they get from ticket sales and maybe USC gets majority of what is left. But LSU would still get concession sales and Baton Rouge would get the economic impact that a game brings in. Changing a game with three days notice is a hard thing to pull off. It will be interesting to see how it does work out.

By my count LSU has had to play a home game in Tempe then play a Monday game against Tennessee in Baton Rouge in 2005. Now in 2015 they have the season opener cancelled and an away game in Columbia moved to Baton Rouge.
Global warming hates LSU.

USCe will get stomped more - still stomped.
If USCe wins now that is a serious upset.

OBC on the warpath. I can hear it now. Georgia always gets the easier crossover schedule. We have to play 5 away SEC games while they only play 4. It is so unfair.

This game would be pretty hard to play up in the air. Might improve SC's chances though.

Nice move by LSU from what I just heard that they are going to give all profits(everything over expenses), even from concessions etc. to USCe and have red cross collections for donating to flood relief. Charlotte would not have been a bad move but my guess is USCe actually gets more money out of it this way as I am not sure how many fans could have made the trip on such short notice and given everything going on in SC.

But are they going to have Carolina come out to 2001 and that crowing rooster? That's the real test.

LSU may be playing a “road” game at Tiger Stadium, but the university is doing its best to give the South Carolina Gamecocks a hometown atmosphere for Saturday’s contest.
According to WAFB’s Jacques Doucet, the LSU marching band will learn South Carolina’s fight song and alma mater, and will play both during the pre-game festivities. Roy M. King, LSU’s athletic band director, confirmed the news on Wednesday.
South Carolina was forced to move the game from Columbia, S.C., to Baton Rouge, La. because of the devastating flooding that took place in Columbia and across the state this week. The South Carolina pep band announced it will be unable to travel to Louisiana for the game.
LSU coach Les Miles offered his support to the university and the state on Wednesday.
“We want to support South Carolina in anything they want to do,” Miles said during the SEC teleconference. “We have been through weather issues here.”
Miles was forced to travel to Tempe, Ariz., 10 years ago for a game against Arizona State after Hurricane Katrina demolished much of Louisiana. The No. 5 Tigers won that game, 35-31, thanks to a touchdown in the waning minutes.

• Please note that tickets previously issued for the game scheduled to be played in Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, S.C., will NOT be valid at Tiger Stadium. • LSU has said that all proceeds generated from ticket sales, minus the expenses LSU will incur for hosting the game, will be given to South Carolina. • The Red Cross will be setup to accept donations at the gates to help those affected by the disaster in South Carolina. • Technically speaking, South Carolina will be considered the home team and will wear white. LSU will wear purple jerseys. Sidenote: Here’s a very memorable play from the last time LSU wore purple jerseys for an SEC home game. (Hint: Chad Jones is a beast!) Thanks to @hunterpanaigua for bringing this play to mind with a tweet he sent out yesterday. • South Carolina’s band will not be traveling to Baton, so LSU’s Golden Band from Tigerland will play their Alma Mater and Fight Song in their honor. That’s a great gesture, if you ask me. • Because this is technically an away contest for the Tigers, LSU will not be able to host any recruits for the game.

I am proud of the way they are handling this.
It is hard to put on a major event with three days notice. That is probably why Charlotte and Jacksonville did not step up. It will be interesting to see how many fans they get. One advantage is some LSU fans that normally don't get a chance to buy tickets, may do so this week. And possibly get the best seats of a lifetime.
Ticket prices:
South Carolina Ticket Prices Tiger Den Suite and Stadium Club -- $100 Lower Bowl Sideline and Upper Deck Chairback -- $75 Lower Bowl Endzone -- $60 Upper Deck Bench -- $40 LSU Student Section -- $5

It's a 6 hour drive from San Antonio to Baton Rouge. Trying to decide if worth it. Sounds like you are saying that you like cocks but are still in the closet

Google and other internet maps figure hwy speed. But you have to go through Houston, Beaumont, Lake Charles and Lafayette which are hard to drive at the speed limit.
And flying low in my dictionary is "hauling ass". If you can go to the game, take it in TexNole. It would be worth it. I still have a few games at Tiger Stadium left in me. I might go down for the Aggie game. My oldest son is an Aggie and he might fly in from San Diego and he and my other two sons would go to the game.

Sounds like you are saying that you like cocks but are still in the closet Thought about treating this like it deserves and ignoring it, but alas, I'm a sucker for abuse. You know the whole using homosexuality as an insult thing is pretty much dead for anyone with more than three brain cells and half an ounce of common sense, right? The 50's called, they're looking for their bigotry back. Smh. Gators. And yes, I'm a BIG COCK fan. Sorry if I offended you, as I had no idea that a bit of humor would do so. I should have posted a winking smiley, but I was posting from my phone.

More Kudos to the Bayou Bengals:
The acts of kindness keep coming from LSU leading up to Saturday’s game against South Carolina.
South Carolina was forced to move Saturday’s game against LSU from Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, S.C. to Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, La. after devastating flooding struck the area last week. All revenue minus expenses will go to South Carolina because it is technically a Gamecocks home game, but LSU has made plenty of other warm gestures to make South Carolina feel at home on Saturday.
During his radio show, South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier said that the team will travel to and from Baton Rouge on LSU’s United Airlines charter plane.
LSU is also trying to make South Carolina players and fans feel welcome on game day. The LSU marching band will play South Carolina’s fight song and alma mater during pregame warm-ups on Saturday. Students from both universities will take part in a ceremony prior to Saturday’s game, where LSU students will hand the keys to Tiger Stadium over to student representatives from South Carolina. LSU will also be offering a tailgate that includes free food and beverages for Tigers fans and any Gamecocks fans who made the trip.
No matter the result, LSU and South Carolina are making the best out of an unfortunate situation.
