LSU gets win over Georgia in the first game of the weekend series 1 to 0. Georgia outhit the Tigers 8 to 3, but LSU made the most of their three hits. A double, ground out advancing the runner to third and a sac fly.
Outstanding Friday night game with both pitchers throwing great games.

Another well pitched game by both Georgia and LSU, but the Dawgs prevail by a score of 2 to 0 and tie up the weekend series 1 to 1. The Tigers outhit the Dawgs 6 to 4 but the Dawgs get the two runs to win. A good Saturday game by both teams. Should be a good one tomorrow.

Dawgs win the series against the Tigers today as it was a hitters day. Georgia wins 9 to 7.
Tremendous weekend of college baseball. A lot of Tiger fans were in Athens this weekend.

Dawgs doing surprisingly well SO FAR. UGA is very legit this season. They have a serious pitching staff. I watched the 3 game series this weekend against LSU and they trotted our pitcher after pitcher running up their in the mid to high 90's. One kid hit 100 mph. They have just enough hitting (including power) to be very dangerous this year. Didn't realize until this weekend how fertile the State of Georgia is in Baseball. Cobb County alone can field a major league team. I think all but 2 or 3 players are instate. Maybe safe to say that UGA has underachieved on the diamond.

I would agree. Ditto with basketball. So many Braves players over the years have come from greater Atlanta area. UGA has certainly under achieved on Diamond for most of last decade.

Miss St edges LSU 6 to 5 tonight to win first game in weekend series on a Thursday night.
Miss State has a new stadium and it is beautiful and fan friendly - at least viewed on TV. They have an apartment building behind the left field bleachers where ESPN TV crew called the game. They have large decks for each apartment. Kyle Petterson seemed to really the feast that was served up to the TV crew from the adjorning kitchen. I wonder what one of the apartments rents for the baseball games.
SEC has some fine baseball stadiums.

LSU gets the series win today by a score of 11 to 2. LSU looks like a different team than earlier in the year. Pitching has come around and the staff is not walking a ton of batters. Two road series against two of the better teams in the league and they go 1-2 against Georgia and 2-1 against Miss St. And it is the first road series the Tigers have won in two years. They did not win a SEC road series last year.
Way to Geaux Tigers.

Chris Reid, a senior was cut from the LSU baseball team in the fall of this year. Beginning the spring training, he was asked to rejoin the team.
In the weekend series against Miss State - From Dandy Dons website:
"Congratulations are in order for senior third-baseman Chris Reid who was named SEC Baseball Co-Player of the Week, sharing the honor with Vanderbilt outfielder JJ Bleday. In last weekend’s huge road series win over second-ranked Mississippi State, Reid led the team with a .750 batting average (6-for-8) with one double, six RBI and four runs scored. He also walked three times and was hit by a pitch, recording a .769 on-base percentage in three games. Reid is batting .370 (10-for-27) in SEC games this season with a team-best 11 RBI and is LSU’s third-leading hitter overall, batting .333 (20-for-60) on the year."
I am sure glad that he was asked to rejoin the team and even more when he said he would rejoin. He hasn't been a great player over his first three years - but he has been a steady hand for sure. He is the starter at 3rd base this year and I don't see him being replaced.
Hats off to Chris, a big hearted Tiger.

Not sure I ever contemplated a Scott Stricklin coached Georgia team in the Top Ten, much less #2. Probably won't hold up, but sure is nice break from our recent years of garbage.
