LSU and Georgia in a barn burner tonight. It was 2 to 9 Tigers, 2 to 2, 4 to 3 Tigers. In the 9th LSU added another run but the Dawgs got two dingers to tie it up. In the 12th - LSU got a two run dinger and a single dinger to win the first game of the SEC weekend series 8 to 5.
Lot of dingers.

LSU takes care of Georgia this afternoon 8 to 4 to win the SEC weekend series and clinch at least a 3rd place finish in SEC regular season. It probably earned them a national seed which make them a Super Regional host.
Way to geaux Tigers.

Georgia takes the 3rd game 9 to 5 over LSU to avoid the sweep. Now it is on the the SEC tourney as the number 3 seed.
Geaux Tigers.

The time is way past. Scott Stricklin needs to go. He has been a complete failure as Georgia's baseball coach. Enough excuses from the AD. Far too much talent just in the Atlanta area alone to justify continue sticking with this guy. Thank you for your service and Adios.

SEC kicked off today. Eight teams in action - four winners from today advance to face a top seed team tomorrow.
Double elimination for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday game. Single elimination on Saturday and Sunday.
Aggies upset Tennessee today 3 to 0 and South Carolina knocked off Georgia 9 to 0.
LSU faces South Carolina tomorrow at 10:30 eastern.

LSU defeated South Carolina 10 to 3 this morning in their first SEC tournament game. Good start for the Tigers and they have Skenes ready for tomorrow. Tigers actually had a good pitching day - Hurd started and Ackerhausen relieved. They need these two players to perform if they make it to Omaha.

LSU lost to Arkansas 5 to 4 yesterday and face Texas A&M today in an elimination game. Bizarre call yesterday - catcher interference on LSU. The batter flied out to the SS and the inning seemed over. But the call gave the Hogs a run and then a single produced two more. That turned out to really be the turning point in the game. That made the score 5 to 2 and LSU scored two more, but not enough.
Tennessee is going to be a spoiler IMO whichever regional they get in. They have the pitching and the hitting to win a regional.
South Carolina needs to perk up as they have been in a funk for a couple of weeks.
Skenes had his worst day of the year, but maybe he picked a good time to have his bad day. Don't want to lose going forward.
LSU probably ends up with a 4th or 5th seed. Wake Forest will be number one with Arkansas and Florida the next two seeds. Vandy probably ends up with a top seed.
South Carolina, Kentucky, Bama and Auburn probably get a regional seed. Tennessee and A&M make the field would make 10 teams from the SEC in the tournament.

Aggies defeat LSU 5 to 4 and advance to semi finals.
LSU takes the bus home to await the seedings. I expect them to be the 4th or 5th seed.
LSU bullpen needs to step it up a notch to have a chance to get to Omaha.
Aggies got three wins from their starting pitchers. They didn't have a single one during the regular season. That is pretty amazing. And two of the wins were shutouts. It they get that kind of pitching in post season - they could make it to Omaha. Maybe an Ole Miss or Miss State run at Omaha.

SEC will host 8 of the 16 regional games sites. I watched the selection show this morning. The chairman of the selection committee was interviewed. It seems that almost no one cares for the current RPI. The RPI is a tool that helps the committee select the teams. Why not devise a fairer method in helping the committee select the teams. The west coast seemed to get toasted when it came to hosting or even some teams making the tournament. One of the announcers stated, maybe more teams needs to be added. What a joke. There are already 64 teams in the tourney. But hey, Ole Miss was the last team to make the 64 last year and they won the whole ball of wax. The is always a team that seems to get left out, but unless every team is allowed to play - someone is going to get left out. Kind of like the old Houston Chronicle slow pitch softball tournament held back in the late 60's and into the 70's. If I remember right - there was close to 500 teams in that tournament. All it took was the entry fee. Some think the more the merrier. Who's know, they could be right. Who I am to say.

Clemson are the 2024 ACC baseball champions! They have a 16 game win streak, and have advanced to #4 in the nation with a host site for an NCAA Regional with Tennessee, Charlotte, and Lipscomb as the visiting contenders.

UW in the cws for only the 2nd time in school history... first was 2018 geaux huskies! Ummmm. Sorry to inform you, but you have not advanced to the CWS. Nobody has, yet. You have to win the regional, and then a super-regional match-up in order to qualify for the CWS. I don’t know why others liked your post, unless they didn't know either.

Bama hosting a regional for the first time in about 15 years or so.
I'm just happy that the Sun Belt placed more teams in the tourney than the big 10. Even if South wasn't one.

Ready for Friday to roll around and the regionals kick off.
LSU is hosting Tulane, Oregon State and Sam Houston State. The Tigers have already played Tulane and Sam Houston St.
Tulane is an interesting story. They earned their way into the tourney by winning the conference tourney. They have a 19-40 record. LSU has defeated them this year 11 to 5 in a mid week game. The Tigers and Greenies play the first game in Baton Rouge. Boy Tulane would love to knock off the Tigers.
The Tigers also beat the Bearkats 16 to 4 banging out 23 hits.
LSU lost to Oregon State a couple of years ago when they were hosting.
Baseball and Basketball can handle large tournaments and do a good job at it. There are plenty of upsets.
But the game of football is not able to handle this many teams. Football teams need rest between the games. Baseball and Basketball can play back to back games if necessary.

Wake Forest is the number one seed. Kind of a curse - the last number one seed to win the title was Miami and that was back in 1999.
Will Wake Forest will it all?
I would hate to face Tennessee - they are primed to make a run. Vandy is another one that could win it all. Clemson is the hottest team in the country right now - long win streak.
And of course my beloved Tigers could do it if they get some relief pitching.
It should be a good tournament.

Tennessee takes the game against Clemson tonight 6-5 in a 14 inning marathon.
Auburn was eliminated today by Southern Miss, after winning no games in their own regional.

Hopefully TT beats Florida so we can host the super.

LSU led the nation in college baseball attendance in 2023 with a total of 447,527 tickets sold in Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field. This should come as no surprise, as the Tigers have been No. 1 in total attendance 25 times since 1996.
LSU was also No. 1 in the nation this season in average attendance with a figure of 11,188 per game, a mark that surpassed the previous school record of 11,006 established in 2013. LSU also established in 2023 a school single-game attendance record with a figure of 13,068 for the Tigers’ March 30 game versus Tennessee, and exceeded a single-game attendance mark of 12,000 nine times during the season.

LSU superstar and No. 1 draft pick Paul Skenes is now a very rich man. Yesterday, Kiley McDaniel of ESPN reported that Skenes signed with the Pittsburg Pirates and is set to receive the largest contract bonus ever for an MLB draft pick — $9.2 million! The previous highest bonus in draft history was $8.4 million to Spencer Torkelson in 2020.
