The only good thing is that the Brewers have a lot of good young pitchers. Most of them are a year or two away though. The Brewers have done incredibly well in drafts recently. Most of their high picks (and severa lower picks) have gotten to the bigs and have done something at the major league level. I think the Reds were in a similar place when they signed Milton (Cueto, Bailey, and several others were a year or two away). Sometimes you need those 'bridge' guys. Thank Doug Melvin for that. They should trade Prince soon, and get rid of Bill Hall I think as well. Rickie Weeks is finally living up to the potential and proving to be very good at second. With Matt Gamel(Similar to Braun, can't field, but can hit), and Escobar(One of the best prospects in the game). I really like Jeffries, he throws 98 to 99.

BB, you can thank Dave Duncan for that bad contract Kyle Lohse, and Todd Wellenmeyer will soon be getting similar deals.

So..not much baseball going on today. A lot of rain delays, ESPN was just showing Pittsburgh and Florida, but I guess they got bored of that and decided to show Houston and Cincy. I'd be more interested in Florida and Pittsburgh, but that's just me..

Who cares about the NL Central. It's all about the NL East. Just ask the Brewers tonight (and last season too)!!!

So the Phillies offense did something for a change (I wasn't expecting them to be quiet all year). Who in that rotation is supposed to impress us other than Cole Hamels again?

Hopefully that gets him going cause we need our middle of the lineup to have a shot. So far Fielder and Hardy haven't done anything and they need to get going.

The Phils lineup is finally clicking. Even Howard is off to his best start. I hope that doesn't mean his September is going to suck though.

Braun had a nice game last night, and hopefully for the Crew fans he can spark the rest of that lineup.
The Phillies have struggled thus far on offense, and need Cole Hamels to throw harder than 85 to be effective.

Don't hate BB because your team can't even win a division title

Hamels really needs to go on the 15 day DL and do an extended spring training to strengthen his arm.

Agreed Toph. The difference on his changeup will be the same, but he cannot be effective without the fastball being at least 92 MPH or so.
They have a good enough offense to get them by for a lot of the games, might as well let him rest in order to be ready for the late part of the season and the playoffs.
Guys who are the ace on teams that win the WS usually struggle the year after due to the large increase in innings pitched.

And unfortunately, he's never going to be a guy that can consistently pitch 250+ innings.

Agreed Toph. He doesn't have the frame or the durability history that is necessary to go that many innings several seasons in a row.
The Reds just beat the Cubs on the back of a brilliant performance by Johnny Cueto. Bruce went yard in the ninth to put the game to 3-0, and out of reach with Coco Cordero on the mount.
Puts the Reds at 8-6. Playing pretty well on the road too.

Yeah the Cubs hitting was just flat out sad tonight. Good job by Cueto, props to him, but the Cubs can't waste an one run outing from Lilly like that..

Cueto can be really good for the Reds, but the less that is expected of him (with good performances by Harang, Volquez, and Arroyo) will help him out even more.

Nice win for the Reds.
I said previously I was a fan of the Cubs as well but, the Reds would be my favorite just for the fact I was born in Ohio and that I have been a fan of the Reds longer.
Hopefully this season I can make it up to a Reds home game if im not busy.

I like GABP myself. It plays a little small, but in the cooler weather it actually plays pretty fair.
The look of the field is nice, and the replacements they made to the look of the outfield and behind center have improved the stadium.
Cincy has some good young talent on the mound, and in the field. Their trouble will be scoring enough runs (man it sounds weird to think or type that about the Reds).

I missed the game, but I'm elated to see the Reds take this one against Lilly and the Cubs. They'll go back home with at least an 8-7 record to play the Astros and Pirates... two of the worst teams in the division.
I still don't think the team is very good, but if God says "I'm bored, so I'm gonna screw around with the NL Central," then the Reds stand a chance at the playoffs.

At least this year the Reds have got pitching and bad hitting. I would rather watch good pitching with a lack of hitting rather than lots of hitting and no pitching.
Pitching is what wins you games, looks like the Reds are headed in the right direction.
