Is just around the corner. LSU has a rebuilding job this year, but by the end of the season they find a way to win.
Need to rebuild the starting rotation this year. LSU, will have to replace its entire weekend starting pitching rotation as Alex Lange and Jared Poche’ have moved on to professional baseball , and right-hander Eric Walker, a 2017 Freshman All-American, will be sidelined in 2018 after undergoing Tommy John surgery.
Four position starters will have to be replaced, although LSU returns six position players who filled everyday starting roles last season, including outfielders Antoine Duplantis, Zach Watson and Beau Jordan, and infielders Josh Smith, Jake Slaughter and Nick Coomes.
Infielder Chris Reid is also a veteran player with starting experience, and the Tigers will be bolstered by the return of infielder/catcher Bryce Jordan, who missed the entire 2017 season due to a knee injury.
I might try and make it to the SEC tournament in Hoover Alabama this year. Usually get to see a couple of the teams that make it to Omaha and the CWS.
Geaux Tigers.

Tigers fall behind the Irish 6-0, but get a grand slam and a three run homer to win 7-6 in their season opener.

Starting pitching was the concern going into this season for LSU and it is a concern. Two times the starters have been knocked out - Tigers lose to ND 10-5. The series is on the line today.

ND blast LSU 11 to 3 to win series 2 games to 1.
LSU fortune they were not swept - two long balls in game two (grand slam and 3 run homer) gave LSU a 7 to 6 win. All three starters for the Tigers were roughed up. Let's see if the Tigers get better pitching next week against Texas.

Gators finally lose one to Miami, 2-0. Nonetheless, their 7-1 record should still be enough to keep the #1 spot in the polls. Maybe.

Tigers take the first two from Texas last weekend, but lose the closer on Sunday. Tigers stand 4-3 for the season. Their starting pitching has sucked and they are missing two regulars in lineup, but should get Zack Watson back soon. The starting shortstop Josh Smith is out for about a month.
They have a couple of young pitchers that have had minor dings and they should be available shortly.
Let's see if the Tigers are ready when SEC plays starts. Hope so.

Tigers won last night and are up 6-0 tonight. Caleb Gilbert is looking good and the Tigers need him if they are going to complete this year. Still missing two regulars - Zack Watson and Josh Smith. Zack was the leading hitter last year - so getting him back into the lineup will help a lot. But the pitching needs to improve. Zack Hess's last two starts have been very good. He had 13 SO's in 7 innings last night.

Tigers wrap up a very encouraging weekend. Best starting pitching of the year. Zack Hess and Caleb Gilbert turned in two good performances. Hess had 13 strikeouts in 7 innings of work allowing only two runs and Gilbert pitched shutout baseball allowing only four hits and striking out seven.
Freshmen right-hander AJ Labas made his collegiate debut and is just returning to health after suffering a shoulder injury that kept him out until Sunday. In his first outing, he certainly passed the eye test, as he threw 24 of his 32 pitches for strikes. As expected, Labas was pulled after a brief stint, but that was long enough for him to produce a solid stat line of just one hit and one walk allowed in two scoreless innings.
Equally impressive was the pitching of Ma'Khail Hilliard who threw four scoreless innings of one-hit ball with four strikeouts and one walk. Hilliard has now thrown 12 innings as a Tiger without allowing a run.
Two young pitchers that can really help a staff that lost all three starting pitchers from last year. And hitting is starting to jell and that is with two starters out of the lineup - Zack Watson and Josh Smith.
Tiger defeated Southeast Louisiana 4 to 2 on Sunday.
Looking a lot better this weekend than the previous two weekends with the starting pitching. Way to Geaux Tigers.
