Tigers get a 6 to 5 win over Southeastern Louisiana - go to 4-0 on the season.
Todd Petersen gets his second win of the season in closing the door on SE. He looks like he will be a very good closer. His fast ball hit 98 tonight and he also has a wicked slider.
Way to Geaux Tigers.

I assume Tony is playing Golf and hasn't had time to update Gators Baseball so, as a friend, I will for him....
Gators loss a tough one in Tampa to USF, 6-1. They will try to rebound tonight as they return home against North Florida.

As I said, it will happen again. The Gators lost 7-1 last night against UNF. I expect them to drop in the rankings.

LSU defeated Bryant 13 to 6 Friday night and 17 to 8 last night to run their record to 6-0 on the season.
The Tigers are doing very well in the hitting department, but the middle relief pitching hasn't looked that good so far. Still very early in the season though. Next weekend the Tigers travel to Austin for a weekend series with the Longhorns.

Tigers get win over Bryant today in a closer game 4 to 3. Middle relief still is brothering the Tigers. Todd Pedersen came in to close out the last two innings. He is going to be a good closer - hitting speeds of 96 and 97 today. He hit 98 in his last outing.
Jaden Hill, freshman pitcher, had another good start. He allowed only one run on four hits in five innings of work.
Tigers are now 7-0 on the season.

Nebraska started the year by taking 3 of 4 from UC Riverside before getting swept in ugly fashion against Oregon State. However, they did upset #3 Texas Tech earlier this evening. Probably about the only input I'll have about college baseball, but that was neat to see.

Had our first interesting game of the year. Beat Clemson at their stadium despite that piece of trash warning track they have. Don’t know what to make of this team after losing our top 5 hitters and 2 of three starters from the end of last year. But we are 8-1 and hopefully can pick up the weekend series against Clemson. I think this is the premier rivalry series in college baseball.

Texas crushed the Tigers last night 8 to 1. Zack Hess is still struggling and IMO if he doesn't put it together - Tigers need another Friday starter. Middle relief pitching still is not good. Pitching staff gave up 9 walks. And the offense managed only 4 hits.
See if they can get it together today.

Texas wins the series as they take the second game of the series 8 to 4. LSU pitching has gone south - ll walks and 1 hit batter. Twelve free bases is hard to overcome. Too many walks for the Tigers this year.

We crushed Clemson today to take the series. This team has some power in the lineup and seems to live and die by the long ball.

Tigers get a win against Holy Cross last night 9 to 2.
If they don't get the pitching problem (too many walks) under control - not going to be the season they were expecting.

Tigers host University of California for a weekend series starting tonight.
Tiger pitching will be challenged - Junior first baseman Andrew Vaughn is leading the team with a remarkable .529 batting average (18-for-34) and has drawn 15 walks. The 2018 Golden Spikes Award Winner has hit seven home runs and driven in 18 runs while slugging 1.176.
It will be interesting to see if the Tiger pitching gets away from issuing so many walks. They better as conference play begins next weekend.

Tigers pull it out with two runs in the bottom of the ninth to win 4 to 3. A bloop single by Josh Smith allowed two runs to score for the win. Tiger pitching still giving up a lot of walks - 8 of them tonight.
Huge win for the Tigers. Maybe the pitching can get on track.

Tigers win second game of double header 5 to 4 to take the series from Cal.
LSU pitching was great except for the third inning when Cal posted their four runs. Eric Walker had retired 8 in a row, then a walk, a couple of hits and another walk followered by another hit and the Bears had their four runs.
LSU scored two runs on solo HR's, a single and a double for another run and then a 2 run HR for the Tigers 5 runs. Tigers scored the two runs on the homer in the bottom of the sixth inning. So all three games in the series were come from behind.

LSU gets opening win in SEC a day late 2 to 1 over Kentucky in 12 innings. Kentucky walks in the winning run in the bottowm of the 12th and the Tigers pull one out. Zack Thompson pitched a shutout for six innings for the Wildcats before being relieved. Zack Hess almost matched Thompson, but Hess allowed one run in the first inning but no more runs in 7 innings. Fontenot relived Hess and pitched 5 shutout innings of relief and picked up the win. Tigers and Wildcats will play game two a little later.

LSU sweeps Kentucky today 7 to 2. LSU pitching woes were missing this weekend and just in time as it was the first weekend of SEC baseball.
Zach Watson has been red hot over the last four games. He had 8 hits in the three games against the Wildcats.
Off to visit the Dawgs in Athens next weekend, who also had a sweep against South Carolina this weekend. Should be a good series.
