Rankings are really not a big deal in baseball. I mean, other than being a top 8 seed, it's just like basketball. Have a pulse, make the postseason.

Rankings are really not a big deal in baseball. I mean, other than being a top 8 seed, it's just like basketball. Have a pulse, make the postseason. RPI is what really counts. Rankings can be all over the place in college baseball. The rating percentage index, commonly known as the RPI, is a quantity used to rank sports teams based upon a team's wins and losses and its strength of schedule.

LSU gets a win over Missouri in the start of a SEC weekend series 12 to 11. It was a wild and wooly game. LSU opened up in the first inning by scoring 3 runs. But Missouri scored six in the wild first inning. Starter Zack Hess had to leave the game in the bottom of the first inning with a pulled groin injury.
LSU got the win on a run in the top of the 10th inning and held Missouri scorless in the bottom half of the 10th for the win.
Friday nights are suppose to be apitcher's dual. Not tonight.

Mo Tigers win today to even the weekend series - 4 to 1. TJ Sikkema was great on the mound for the M-Tigers. Three hiter and only 1 run. Good looking left handed pitcher. He tied up the LSU left handed batters all day.
They go at each other tomorrow for the series.

Wrong Tigers (Missouri) wins today 11 to 5 and takes the weekend series.
LSU seems to be on a roller coaster. One week outstanding and the next week not so good. When does the real Tigers show up?

Nebraska sits at 20-10 and is 10-2 in the B1G Ten so far this year. A nice turnaround from the struggles of last season by Erstad's squad.

After a terrible start to the weekend series Thursday night by losing 16 to 9 - LSU wins the series today by a score of 11 to 2. If the Tigers can get some players healthy, they could be a factor yet in the SEC and maybe more.
Zack Hess pitched 2.1 innings today after his injury last week - giving up 2 hits and no runs. Eric Walker pitched 5.1 innings today - looking like the Walker of two years ago. The Tigers still have 5 or 5 pitchers on the injury list, plus Zack Watson and Chris Reed - two regulars who are hurt but are expected back next week.
Maybe things are looking up for the Tigers. And they are still in the thick of the SEC race with a 11-7 record.
Way to Geaux Tigers.

Bama defeats the Tigers 6 to 1 in the opener of the Weekend series. LSU pitching woes continue as their best pitcher this year, Cole Henry, is out this weekend. LSU needs to win the last two games of this series or their hopes at the start of the year are in the rear view mirror.

LSU evens up the weekend series with a 5 to 2 win today. Rubber game tomorrow. Zack Watson had a huge day at the plate going 3 for 5 with a three run dinger. Huge game tomorrow for the Tigers. If they are thinking about post season - they need the series win.
I have never seen so many injuries as LSU has had this year. Pitchers who been hurt are: Jaden Hill - early season success as a starter, Eric Walker - early season problems, Zack Hess, Landon Marceaux - early season starter - might pitch tomorrow, Caleb Gilbert - has not thrown a pitch this year, Ma-Kail Hillard - starter last year, A. J. Labas - has not thrown a pitch this year, Cole Henry - our best pitcher this year - out for this series, and Nick Storz. Nine pitchers. And regulars - Zack Watson, Chris Reed, Daniel Cabera, Hal Hughes, Brock Mathis, Saul Garza, and Brandt Broussard.
Get well Tigers.

Tigers defeat the Tide 5 to 4 to take the weekend series. Made me sweat though. Tigers had a 5 to 3 lead going into the bottom of the ninth with the closer Fontenot coming into the game. Hits the first batter. Gets a force out at second. Infield single. Walks a batter to load them up. Force out at first to make the score 5 to 4. Walks another to load the bases with two outs. But he strikes out the batter and gets LSU a needed win.
Whewwwww!

LSU gets the win tonight against Ole Miss 8 to 3 to take the first game in the weekend series. Zack Hess who had been the Friday night pitcher for LSU was moved to the bullpen this week and he comes into the game in the 4th inning to pitch four innings getting the win with 7 K's.
Zack was the super reliever as a freshman and was a starter last year and was the Friday night starter this year, but never really consistent. He looked good tonight and might be the spark to get the Tigers going. LSU is known as a end of the year team.
Way to Geaux Tigers.

Ole Miss evens the series with LSU winning tonight 5 to 1. Rubber game tomorrow. Ole Miss used two homers to score four of their runs - a solo HR and a 3 run shot.
