I have heard it said because Boise is not good or doesn't field teams in many of the other sports. Don't know for sure though. The biggest reason is location... Just not a lot of recurring in Idaho for any sports Which would make perfect sense if the Big 12 wasn't considering BYU. If you are taking BYU for football reasons, then Boise fits right in. Relatively close in location.

There is no contest... only ND might have a more cult following.

Yeah and I think the Boise area has a lot of LDS members, so it's probably a good rivalry game. But the big reason is as a random college fan I'm more familiar and therefore more likely to watch Boise than Cincy or Houston.

No one wants Boise. The Blue Turf can stay as a gimmick in the MWC.

Apparently Cincy, Houston, BYU and UCF will be applying for membership next week. Hmmm, what a dirty bastard Bob Bowlsby is. The scoundrel Big 12 pillaging other conferences. Someone needs to form an alliance against such naked aggression.

Which is exactly like a huge number of fans that follow any school...especially state schools. Many times it is simply because the team is the state university and represents the people of the state. But understand what you mean.

I know it’s not feasible for money reasons. As the old saying goes… you can’t cut off your nose to spite your face. But wouldn’t it be fitting if the Big 12 said to OU and TX—ok cool you’re leaving. So you’re out now. You don’t get to compete for the B12 championship and you now have 8 openings on your schedule. Good luck in the future.

Will be funny if every UT home game there is a “Covid” issue... I mean the team has to forfeit but they lose huge on attendance and ticket $$

The SEC can easily adjust the conference games and bring them in for 2022. Honestly, I think once the Big12 adds a few teams, they will negotiate OU and TX's exit.

lol. Then who will the rest of the Big 12 play? OU and TX can afford that kind of hit but the rest of the conference would teeter on bankruptcy.

Big 12 expansion talk always happens in the twilight zone. It almost makes sense, and then....

But would the TV money continue to flow without Texas and Oklahoma? Yeah the TV money is contract... can't change... BUT... the Home games and all the money made by the city, attendance, etc... would all be lost... fuck em. I am for all teams to forfeit 1 game.... THEN, when its CFPO time. OU and UT will have nothing to stand on when the "yeah, they are 11-1 but 5 of those were forfeits... they are really just 6-1 or 5-1...

I would bet that if those teams begin league play in 2023 - Texas and Oklahoma begin SEC play in 2023.

I would bet that if those teams begin league play in 2023 - Texas and Oklahoma begin SEC play in 2023. I figure UT/OU will be gone in 2022 in time for the SEC TV rights deals.... There is still a lot of talk about adding in 2-4 more.... namely Memphis, Boise, CSU, Air Force, SDST, Fresno St, Tulane, Louisiana, Tulsa, and 1 of the Michigan Schools. The idea being coverage, refuting areas....... and the biggest... "Get 16 in case 2 or 4 more teams are poached by the Pac12/Big10".....

TTU AD announces that TTU and Texas have pledged a “20-25 year OOC pledge” to play each other every year.

Interesting....., not that some will give this source any thought....
But a very prominent poster who works in the AD at TTU posted this today....
It appearently is tied to the Texas/TTU OOC game contract and after that gets signed, TTU wanted the chip to play in getting equal pay...
“”Now that the dust has cleared, and I’m just a guy behind a keyboard. Tech officials did receive a soft invite to the pac 12 after pac 12 media day.
why didn’t we accept???
1. we were expected to agree to an elevator revenue % payout. 33% year 1, 66% year 2, etc. this would be a massive self inflicted pay cut.
2. We would then be on the hook for Big 12 exit fees
3. Kirby and co are betting on themselves to get us a better deal when it’s time ( GOR expiration)”””
I still think the Big12 might fold after the 24/25 season. Going to be interesting

Yeah think they would rather keep the TTU game going.... There is some politics involved... same ones that got TTU to endorse Houston for that matter.... Plus the UT alums don't want another "TAMU squabble"

LOL I love all the schools coming out saying "We were invited".... or "We were that close to leaving for the Pac12"...
I mean.... of course every AD is going to say they were wanted by another conference but were holding out for the better deal... or some other crazy excuse.... or saying that "we are actually leving just not right now".....
Its classic.
TTU not innocent either.... they claimed mohave a "soft invite".... TCU claims they were "that close".... Houston now rumored to have been "#1 target"... Kansas same.
Pax12 is up in 2022-2023 TV Deal... Big12 2024-2025..... SEC 2022-2023....
I could see The Big12 adding 4 more teams for '16'..... but then losing OSU, TTU, KU, Houston tot eh Pac12.
The idea that ht ePac12 would take TCU over TTU is laughable. The enrollment at TCU is only 10K for the "Christian schools" and TTU as more fans at TCU games than the Hornfrogs.... the "Media Market" does not care about TCU.... that market is owned by UT and OU honestly..... with TTU in 3rd... Houston TV market is owned by UT/TAMU and its not even close. Houston and Rice are like "SMU/North TX"... or TCU to that market.
