Hit the daily bag limit today. In the spirit of goose hunting, have goose jalapeño poppers on the smoker.

They should have open season on Canadian geese at all golf courses in Florida. Seems like, over the last 20 years, those bishes have migrated here and won't go back.

Vermont has gone to an 8 a day limit on Canadian snow geese before the migratory ones show up in order to thin out the resident population. I talked to some golf courses about me hunting before hours but none of them were too keen on that plan. However, I have about 6 farms that let me set up blinds. That’s where I hunted this morning.

Where ever you hunted looks like a good spot.

Yeah, you would have no problem getting your limit on any golf course down here.

Always stocked up, I rarely buy meat on the years I hunt elk and the years I don’t the meat will last until about May or June. Geese yield about 3-5 pounds of meat each, deer about 45-70 unless you bring down a monster or a tiny one. But a bull elk will yield about 225-250 lbs of meat. Now if I get a moose tag in the lottery next year, I’ll throw a massive scm party since I would have to buy a 2nd chest freezer.

Never had Goose before. How does it compare to Duck?

Never had Goose before. How does it compare to Duck? Wild geese are leaner and more muscular than ducks also geese are herbivores as opposed to the carnivorous ducks. So it’s more of a high grade roast beef type flavor than the rich fattiness of duck.

I am sure that is good, and I may get railed, but goose is not anywhere on my list of birds to eat. Never liked them. (Truth and a poke back. All in fun.)

Never had geese. Those poppers look delicious. I due mine with Shrimp & Cream Cheese, but use a thinner bacon so it doesn't take so long to cook (Skrimps cook quit).
You inspired me to throw Chicken Pieces and Parts on the grill today.
