Feel free to correct me if I am mistaken, but as I understand it, replays in MLB are decided in New York by a team of "current" umpires. I don't believe that is the case in other team sports. There have been a ton of highly controversial decisions on these replays that almost always favor the call made on the field. Seems to me we ought to be using retired umps, not compadres of the current serving umpires.
