Well, back from an awesome trip to a beautiful part of our great country. Arrived in hot, muggy Atlanta last night and headed to Athens this evening. But last couple of days were great with blessed weather to boot. Train Station at West Glacier entrance. Two AMTRAC trains a day, one headed to Chicago and other to Seattle/Portland. This is where that big Black bear crossed the tracks. Looking into the park from the west boundary as we head up to Polebridge. Looking into the park from the west. Polebridge Saloon. No electricity other than generators. Famous bakery with lots of Huckleberry products to include their bear claws. Nice outdoor seating with a brew and some chow. Lake McDonald, looking east toward Logan Pass.

Outside the park on the drive back from Eureka to Spokane. The Koocanusa Reservoir, one of the biggest in the west. Half of it stretches into Alberta and those are the Canadian Rockies in the background. Looking down on a bridge built in 1970 across the reservoir. Koocanusa stands for Kootenai Indians, Canada and USA. This view from bridge toward Canadian Rockies. The Kootenai River just west of Libby, Montana. We saw a bald eagle here in the trees but my picture got nothing. Sister got couple of decent shots. Hope to post later. No, not the UNC mascot, but the boss of this group of long horned sheep. Kootenai Falls, west of Libby. The Ross Giant Cedars. Not quite as large as the Redwoods of California, but still huge (the picture does not do justice). Close to the Idaho border.

Did you go on a swing bridge that spanned the Kootenai River? My wife and I made the bridge when we made our great Northwest trip.

No. We were a bit pressed for time and several folks recommended the falls instead. We still had to hit Ross Cedars before getting back to Spokane. So we opted to walk down to the falls instead.

Here's' the bridge. And a couple of views from the bridge.

One thing for sure - the mighty Northwest has a lot of beautiful places to visit. I would love to go back, but probably will not make it.

Just think of those folks that live in a place like Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Utah and other beautiful areas.
But the Northeast - north of New York City - has a lot of beautiful places.
