On the rise * Iowa: Iowa was our team “on the rise” last week and makes it back-to-back honors (with an honorable mention to Oregon). The Hawkeyes’ dominance over rival Iowa State continued Saturday with a sixth straight win with the Cy-Hawk Trophy on the line. Iowa scored a 27-17 win over No. 9 Iowa State, one week after beating No. 17 Indiana, 34-6. Iowa’s defense is nasty, and so is the Hawkeyes’ résumé. I moved Iowa from No. 7 to No. 3 on my ballot. Also moving into the top five is Oregon at No. 4 (up from No. 12) after a 31-24 win at Ohio State, one of the nation’s most impressive early-season victories, especially considering the Ducks were playing without star DE Kayvon Thibodeaux.
On the fall * Texas: I could have gone with a pair of Pac-12 teams in USC (lost to Stanford and dropped from No. 14 to off my ballot) or Utah (lost to BYU and dropped from No. 20 to off my ballot), but I’ll go with Texas, which continues to disappoint. The honeymoon phase didn’t last long for new coach Steve Sarkisian with Saturday's 40-21 loss to Arkansas (the old rivals will soon be SEC conference mates). Texas has a great brand, but the program has finished top 10 in the nation just once in the last 11 years and has placed in the final Top 25 only four times during that span. Texas went from No. 15 to unranked on my ballot; Arkansas jumped into the rankings at No. 19.
1. Alabama (1)
2. Georgia (2)
3. Iowa (7)
4. Oregon (12)
5. Oklahoma (4)
6. Texas A&M (5)
7. Cincinnati (6)
8. Florida (8)
9. Clemson (9)
10. Penn State (10)
11. Ohio State (3)
12. Notre Dame (11)
13. Virginia Tech (16)
14. UCLA (17)
15. Coastal Carolina (19)
16. Mississippi (19)
17. Iowa State (13)
18. Wisconsin (23)
19. Arkansas (n/r)
20. Nevada (21)
21. North Carolina (22)
22. Arizona State (24)
23. TCU (25)
24. BYU (n/r)
25. Michigan (n/r)

Some I don't believe should or will be ranked so high soon. 6 aTm with a stunning 3 point win over COLORADO 12 ND with another 3 point win over TOLEDO I know there isn't a good loss but there should be a bad or at least a poor win. Still there have been only a few significant wins and even those are questionable. Many thought Bama's win over Miami was significant but with a 2 point win over APLST shows they are the old Miami not the new and improved Miami. Georgia's 7 point win over Clemson continues to look good so far with Clemson's 46 point win over SCST but even that win was over SCST. Bottom line is that we still don't have any idea how this list will look even halfway through the season. Taken with a grain of salt because this is only my opinion.

Bama remains to be a pretty good team. The Bama - Gator matchup should give us a clue to their strength.

Looking at next weeks games I can't help but remember when the Nebraska Oklahoma game was a must watch game with National importance. The Auburn Penn state game could have implications but I don't expect it to be relevant, expecting Auburn to get thumped in Beaver Stadium.

Bama-Florida will not have significance. We still have no D, and Mullen is beholden to the Junior QB that throws multiple picks a game instead of the Freshman Phenom. Bama will roll.
That said, fuck Bama.

Penn State has played the better team with WISC and we don't know how Auburn's O can do against a decent D. I will watch the game as I think it could be good, it will either be close or somebody's offence is going to dominate from the start. Auburn lost the first 1995 matchup 14-43 And Auburn won the second 2003 13-9 both were Bowl games. I don't believe Auburn has ever played in Beaver Stadium nor Penn State in Jordan-Hare. I would like to see Auburn make a good showing, this will be the first test for Auburn this season.

PSU has some talent on offense but Clifford is so erratic at QB that it’s hard to predict how they’ll do. I do like the PSU D. I just assume that both D will step up and it will be tough to score.
