No one expected Arkansas to be as good as they were last year. They're making good strides under Pittman. That might not look nearly as bad by the end of the season.

I think i mentioned several times that Texas is not a great football program the last 12 years..... 2009 was the last time they were viable for anything nationally. its been 12 years of "Texas is back"... 3 "the guy" hires....
But.... they have $$$ and they have a fan base. And even if its 30 or 40 years from 2009, when they finally go to the SEC CCG, it will be "we told you so!"......
But for now the rest of CFB will sit back and laugh as they keep being an average team and say "we told you so".

They pretty much just had a small 5-6 year window where you could consider them elite in my lifetime.

That’s why I always chuckle at the fervor around them and aTm. Neither have sustained any level of greatness in my lifetime.

Shitzzz Ga Tech was a power in my younger days.
But how about Michigan - more wins in history - but about like Texas. History looks great, but currently not so good.

IMO, it comes down to quality coaches. A college has to have one in order to sustain great teams. Not many of them. Coaches that is.

Shitzzz Ga Tech was a power in my younger days. But how about Michigan - more wins in history - but about like Texas. History looks great, but currently not so good. Michigan gets far too much credit for all of the wins they had between 1879-1912. Until somewhere around 1906 or 1907 FG's were worth more than TD'S. Even the next few years after(until about 1912) TD's were worth only one point more than a TD. The game is always revolving, but a completely different scoring system makes it a completely different game. Not even Texas tradition is more overrated than Michigan's, IMO. Texas does have at least have 4 natty's since 1950. Michigan has one. If I'm not mistaken, Michigan is barely top 10 in wins over the last 100 years of college football.

Basically, Michigan claiming the most wins all-time is like Harvard claiming the most national titles.

I see your point and I agree. But where do you think Arkansas ends up at the end of the season...conference championship game? I think not. Texas is all hat and no cattle. Arkansas is middle to bottom of the SEC.

Where have I been the last 54 years. I forget if it's Yale, Princeton or Harvard that claims 27. Doesn't matter, it's irrelevant. As for Bama, it should be 17. The claim to '41 bothers me more than anyone.

Between Bear and Saban - I think that accounts for 12 natty's.
