He was in line to be the Corch until the Money Backer and players stepped in and revolted.
Classic case of Big Donors and players to a lessor extent running the program. or, simply put, 7&5 doing 7&5 things.

judging by what i saw on Twitter (yes this counts as a news source) is that A&M was getting ready to announce stoops and some high up A&M boosters pitched a fit and then all the sudden there was no deal?
Any other insight from anyone on this? I like Stoops, A&M would be lucky to have him IMO

Off topic, but I am bummed that Smith went to Sparty. Would have loved to see him replace Chip. While he went to Oregon State for college, he is from Pasadena, and graduated from Glendora HS Seems like Chip might have saved his job while beating USC.

And then lost it again in the abomination that was the Cal game.

It’s so much easier when you just expect to be 6-6 or less every year.... I mean Joey kinda pissed folks off early on trying to pump everyone into a “TTU will be in the CFBPO” frenzy.... honestly happy week 1 that ship was sunk.
It made getting to 6 wins a happy time..... losing to UT no so bad..... you just resign to “next year could be better” and move on to being disappointed in Other sports.

7&5 gonna 7&5
Goes balistic with the thought of hiring a 7&5 SEC Corch Acts like they hit the lottery when hiring a 7&5 ACC Corch
