....that the SEC only got 3 teams in the tournament. Did I count that correctly? I'm surprised the football money hasn't bled over into their other sport programs and made them more competitive. Is it just an abnormally down year? The Pac 10 is in a definite down this year and still got 6 in. The Big 10 got 7 in. I thought the power conferences pretty much were guaranteed 5 getting in.

The SEC was less than remarkable in CBB this year; however, I thought that Auburn positioned themselves well for a possible bid; Florida and Kentucky played themselves out of the tournament and really, overall, the league really did not have quality out of conference victories. Still, I thought three bids was a little tough...

Auburn could have gotten a bid IMO.
Slive was the head of the committee this year, wonder if they were on the edge, and didn't want to look 'homerish'.
Auburn had a pretty good resume, and could have made it. Possibly taking one away from the Pac 10, or Big 10.

If USC hadn't won the conference tournament (ftr, I hate conference tournaments and their auto-bids), it probably would have gotten Auburn in. USC really didn't have a great year. Only TWO road wins in an entire season??

Yeah that is true Sad. The tourneys are fun to watch...but make the regular season of little value.
Auburn probably would have gotten in, but there were opportunities to let them in for another team (Wisky, Zona, the last teams in basically).

Imagine if Mississippi State did not win their conference tournament....we may have had only two SEC teams in....

I think that final slot would have went to a St. Mary's or a Creighton or a Penn State, honestly.
