Following the latest games, these teams lead their Qualification groups: Denmark, Greece, Northern Ireland, Germany, Spain, England, Serbia, Italy and the Netherlands. (There must be a new rule because traditionally the defending Champs did not have to qualify). If the qualification rounds ended today, the following second place teams would play off for 4 at large bids: Hungary, Slovakia, Switzerland, Russia, Bosnia, Croatia, Lithuania and Ireland. Germany, England, Spain and the Netherlands have at least a 4 point lead and in good position to make it to South Africa.

Not a whole lot of surprises in the standings, though the Italy draw with Ireland today was an interesting result.
How about Bolivia's rout of Argentina? Maradona must have his "hand of God" down the front of his pants or something.

Durfish, I must have missed the rule change if Italy is having to qualify. Seemed odd to me. US looked pretty good tonight.

Roger that. I don't understand it either. Host and defending champ always got a pass.
