Cole Hamels got drilled by a linedrive while pitching today. Fielder drilled a liner that hit him in the left (pitching) shoulder.
Hamels was struggling as it was, and Toph and I were thinking that he needed to go on the DL. This seems like as good an excuse as any. Even though he looked good before getting hit today.

Phillies in trouble, no doubt.

I agree BTB, this might be the best opportunity for him to shut it down for 15 days and get his strength back. Still haven't heard if it is anything more than just a bad bruise. Plus it is on his non throwing shoulder.
I was listening to the game and other than the pitch he left up in the zone against Braun, he was really on his stuff yesterday. A little extra time could help him and the Phils can tread water until then.
They started last year 8-9 and were slow to pick it up, so I'm not terribly worried yet. As long as they keep it near .500 until the middle of May, they'll be fine.

sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4096855He says he feels fine. I will say that until he got hit yesterday. He had all his stuff back. He located the pitch poorly to Braun for the Homer, but other than that he was in the lower 90's with his fastball and had great movement on his change up.

It is a good sign that he is back in the lower 90's Toph. That is a good sign for the Phils. I really do think they should monitor his innings this year. Invested too much in the guy to let him go too much to a detrimental level.

Invested too much in the guy to let him go too much to a detrimental level. I agree wholeheartedly. They need to make sure that he's 100% for the stretch run. I'd be in favor of him missing a start every now and again to give him extra rest. When he is on, he is as good as any Lefty out there. As for the investment, did you hear of the contract that he signed in the offseason. When all the big starters were bringing in $15M-$20M per year, he signed a 3 year extension for only $19M total. He wanted to give the team the flexibility to go out and get a guy like Ibanez. Total class act. For my money, he's worth more than Sabbathia and Burnett combined.
