How do you feel about Jenkins Red? I liked it. I sorta wanted Beanie a bit but we needed D and we got some. How about that trade to get a punter? The talking heads said it was a good move but we'll see...

Oh and I like that the Chiefs reunited Dorsey and Jackson. I hope those 2 become a serious defensive force for them.

I think it was the best pick the Saints could have made with what they had. They'll go nowhere until they find some D.
Have you noticed how many LSU players are on KC and SD?

Only four 2* drafted in the first round, goes to show that rivals did a good job in evaluating players that year IMO.

It does quite the opposite. If one is to believe star rankings on hs players the entire first round should be five stars with a smattering of 4s. 6 five stars go in the first round. Thats it. 14 of 32 picks were less then 4 stars.

I think lower star player acquitted themselves quite nicely this draft, though I would also like to see the correlation of how these players careers goes and their star rankings.

You are correct I miss counted, My point is still the same, look how many from the top 10 that year were drafted in the first round.

I am not saying that Rivals or Scouts are 100% accurate, I am just saying they are more accurate then most give them credit for.

Good thread.
I expected there to be a some 3 stars, but the amount of two stars are a little surprising considering we're talking about the 1st round

Wow, I just realized a walkon was drafted in the 1st. I know Rashad Johnson was a walkon as well. He was drafted in the 3rd.
I guess that just goes to show that the ''experts'' aren't always right

Ratings services exist for two reasons: - there is a market for their product
- most fans are gullible enough to give them credit beyond their obvious reports
The development of athletes, indeed of people, varies tremendously between the ages of 13 and 30. Some peak early, some 'normally', some late. To use the senior year of high school as the only indicator of potential is to ignore many factors (genetics, ambition, discipline, not to mention HGH). It is exactly this variability among individuals that makes life (and its microcosm, sports) such a fascinating thing to be part of.
