Agent Scott Boras wants best-of-nine World Series with first two games at neutral site Agent Scott Boras was interviewed for the June edition of Playboy and was asked how he would change the World Series. Boras replied: "I'd modernize it, make it five out of nine games, with the first two in a neutral city. Announce the MVP and Cy Young awards at a gala held between the playoffs and a new World Series weekend. Move the home-run contest from the All-Star game to that week too. -- LA Times .....Ben's Take: Boras could have the greatest idea's in the world and baseball's not gonna list. As the saying goes, its not the message, it is the messenger in this case

I think the first round shouldn't be a best of 7. I don't think you can do the best of 9 WS without eliminating some earlier payoff games or some of the off days because it would go too late in the season.

I think Scott Boras is out of his mind, again.

I kinda like the first two games being at a neutral site I'm not sure I do, but at the same time, why should the All Star Game decide who gets home field... that doesn't make any sense to me. I think that you should go by best overall record, then see if they played against each other... if not, go to divisional record... and keep it at 7... don't like the 2 neutral sites, cause it would be too hard to choose "neutral" sites.

Modernize by making it a 9 game series? That's what they did at the turn of the century............yes the 19th to 20th century.

Modernize by making it a 9 game series? That's what they did at the turn of the century............yes the 19th to 20th century. It wasn't norm but was used during the 1919 World Series because of the greedy owners of the White Sox and the Reds. They added games to get more money from the gates. I think that was the only time that the World Series was 9 games...but sometimes the old memory doesn't work so well.

Just looked it up..and I was wrong. The World Series in 1903 (the first) was a best of 9 series. It switched to 7 games in 1905. The only other times it has been a best of 9 was in 1919-1921.

Why best of nine? What then..best of 11?
Best of 7 in enough. Keep them in teams cities where they belong.
Add a few dh's during the season and shorten the calander season by a week.

I heard a great quote today on the Golden Age of Baseball Scuzz.
It was, "Back in the days when double headers were not just dictated by mother nature, but by the schedule makers, and the fans loved them all."

No doubt about it Toph. We had a doubleheader on Sunday and it was great. After the first game was over we had some subs, pizza, and water and then in about 20 minutes we started playing again. Something about that...
Doubleheaders in the Bigs are nearly non-existent to the detriment in my opinion.

NCAA baseball shortened the season by a couple weeks this year requireing them to play DH's. I can remember in my early 20's going to see Fresno State play saturday DH's and taking my own ice chest.
The Dh's are back but the ice chest is now illegal.

The MLB could use more scheduled Doubleheaders. It would be great for the fans, but the owners, managers, and players would all hate it.
