The 8 inch outside strike is unhittable.

BTB, not a very good strike zone tonight....actually horrible zone. Way too much on the outside corner as well.

The 8 inch outside strike is unhittable. Damn just posted the same thing. It is just not right, especially in the championship series (at least IMO). Why would an umpire give one out there, and not one lower in the zone. Shrink up the outside corner, and lower the zone just a bit. The hitters and pitchers will adjust, if it is called consistently.

I always preferred an ump with a lower zone, myself. I'd get crushed if I had to bump it up in the zone like tonight. Guess, I'd just half to rely on the outside corner that catches the back of the batter's box.

Guess, I'd just half to rely on the outside corner that catches the back of the batter's box. Agreed. I had to live down too. The hitters are too good to get the ball up there, and have to get it up there because of the zone. Time to ask Erin Andrews about the temperature today. 'It's hot Erin, but not as hot as you'...

We need a rally train to roll through Rosenblatt in the worst kind of way.

Anyone else think it is time for those guys at the D-I level to stop using aluminum bats.
Buying composite bats for the college players wouldn't be that expensive for the D-I programs. They could get bats given to them by the bat companies for a branding opportunity, and the homers that were hit tonight would almost all by flyouts to the outfielders, and would bring bunting, etc. back into the game.

Red, today, the UT pitching was better than the LSU hitting.
and, what can be said about Coleman giving up 5 solo HR's.

I'm guessing Renaudo gets the call tomorrow assuming LSU loses?

Augie has no room bitching about strikes
LSU with runners on 1st & 2nd with 1 out in the top of the 9th down 2.

Wow, that was interesting. Go ahead run at the plate with 1 out in the ninth. A 2-0 count the hitter has to be patient, and cannot try to pull a ball that is outside (otherwise a GIDP would be the result).
A heck of a game anyways.

Do you bunt here BTB?

Post by BTB07 on Jun 22, 2009 21:10:33 GMT -5
With the ninth hitter up I might to avoid a DP here. You can't leave the leadoff guy on deck, especially with your best hitter in the 2 hole (Schimpf sp?). I think you have to take til you get a strike anyways in this situation. Then maybe I am bunting (even though he just chased ball 3).

Wow. Dug himself in a hole there, and allowed that breaking ball. A K is better than a grounder here. Full count though. Not sure you can start the runners here though.

Swung at ball 4 as well.
I think when the count was 2-0 the take has to be on. Make him throw a strike first.
Aggressive AB hurt them there.
