Boston is more rabid and most of their passion is rooted in hatred for the Yankees and not for the overall passion for baseball. St. Louis is more grounded in their love for the game. That has been my experience at least.

St. Louis baseball is like Green Bay football, they just have great fans but they don't necessarily have to be a big city

Absolutely.....St Louis is it. Boston is louder, New York more obnoxious, but St. Louis reeks of baseball knowledge and class.

Boston is a great game time atmosphere and I agree, most of the Boston passion has to do with the rivalry with the Yankees.
St. Louis, on the other hand, just loves baseball. When the fans give an opponent a standing O for a great play, you know they just love the game.

I was just being a homer... jeez!!! But even not having tickets to the game, you have to get to Fenway once a week during game time... tons of fun near the stadium.

New Yorkers can be obnoxious but they are the most knowledgable fans hands down... St. Louis is great so is Boston (Saux suck though), Chicago is okay, LA...not bad NY is it though...everything else pales in comparison especially those little redbird lovers

The redbirds are the shit I do agree that Yankee fans are actually know their crap, but you said New York fans, I dont think I can include the Mets on that list. Yankees ok, but Mets no chance.

My grandma was born in St. Louey and she tried to get me to root for the Redbirds but the Yankees captured my heart much like our beloved Irish

And what is the pond scum??? The Mets? Oh and I still need to make my 3K thread, maybe I'll do it on the baseball board just cuz this is where a lot of my posts came from. But I'm too lazy to do it now, and I'll do it next week when I come back from my leave of absence. Oh and +1 MIZ-SIU cuz you were the reason that I posted so much.

Yes the Mets are pond scum. Back in the 80s that is what Cards fans called them and according to my dad they were more hated then the Cubs

I'm not sure that I would agree with Yankees fans being the most knowledgeable fans... I would venture to guess that every team has their fair share of knowledgeable fans. In fact, the most knowledgeable person I know about baseball is an Os fan.
Also, as much love as there is for the Yankees, you will find the same with Boston. The crazy thing about Boston is that during football season when the Pats are headed to the Super Bowl, if the Red Sox make a trade, have an injury, or have a retirement, nobody even remembers that the Pats exist. I would even say that Boston loves the Sox more than the Celtics, but that may be a toss up.
Again, not saying that Boston is the best baseball town, or beisbol twnio, whichever you prefer ;D, I would just say that NY isn't any better of a baseball town. I haven't spent a lot of time out in the midwest so I can't really say that much about St. Louis or Chicago. But my guess would be if you live in any of these three towns and like baseball, again beisbol for David, you are going to have a hell of a good time.
+1 IrishNY for the David reference

Their history and tradition is the best. Baseball would not be what it is today without the Yankees. But I do hate the Bo Socks for beating us in the 04 WS and everytime I think of that year I become a Yankee fan a little more.

Brad brings up a great point. I think it's almost impossible to say who the best and most knowledgable fans are.
The homer in me tells me it's Yankee fans but there are terrific fans in St. Louis, Boston, Chicago or LA. My ten year old and I actually were talking about this very subject the other night as I believe it was mentioned duing the All Star broadcast...
I am a fan of the game of baseball and have had many memorable experiences watching games in NY and elsewhere...

Ah, the 2004 baseball season, honestly it still stings...I was certain the Yankees were going to win game 6 of the AL Championship as I was at the game...It was not to be BTW, yes, there is a lot of wonderful history and tradition associated with the Yankees...same is true with the Redbirds & Sox...really helps to make it the great game that it is

I don't want to get the reputation of being an OK guy, that's all!! and for Irish08... I do agree with you about the Yanks tradition and what it means to baseball... and Yanks fans, damn them, don't let you forget it!!! ;D most of my friends and family are Yankees fans, so I take a ton of abuse for being a Sox fan, yet every year I get phone calls about wanting to get to Fenway... weird, isn't it!!!

I would love to go to Fenway, I see that stadium on tv enough and it looks like a great atmosphere for a game.
If the Cards ever go to Boston for an interleague game, I am going to be there.

Sorry irish they went there last year and took 2 of 3 and still missed the playoffs I think that is what you meant... wasn't it... I'm just playin... I like the Cards a lot, except for Mark McGuire... but it wasn't his fault he cheated, everyone was doing it and he was just that good of an athlete that he shined over everyone else and is now being persecuted for it.
