Yankees are close to a 3 way deal that would land them Granderson. Edwin Jackson would be headed to arizona and Schurzer would go to Detroit.

It has been agreed upon and the medical records just need approved... Granderson to Yankees, Ian Kennedy and Edwin Jackson to the Diamondbacks, and Detroit gets Schurzer and some other prospects... this makes me sad as a Sox fan as they seem to be sitting on their asses doing nothing. Theo went as far to say that this is going to be a transition.

Is this a done deal?
Interesting.

all they are awaiting is the approval of the medical records... looks like it is about to be done.

I disagree with you... the Yankees got a 28 year old lead off hitter for 4 guys... 3 that they were glad to get rid of and Austin Jackson, who you don't know for sure what he will ever do in the majors... Granderson hit 30 HRs this past season and steals around 20-25 bases a year... I think the Yanks got a great deal... he is getting paid less than $10 per year as well.

He can hit for some pop and has speed but his OBP and strikeouts are horrible so it will be interesting seeing how he does in New York

my point is that he is coming to the Yankees on the cheap and they didn't give up much to get him... seems like a great opportunity for them and they took it.

Still, I have heard great things about Austin Jackson and IMHO they could have gotten this done without including him...you never know how well Jackson will do at the next level but he was Triple A player of the year last season...

Interesting that the Yankees gave up Jackson. I thought he would be a guy that they kept and at least gave a shot at the next level to see what they really had (they know he is good).
Granderson is a good player, but I am kind of with IrishNY here. Think they gave up a bit, and I am not sure how much of an upgrade it is over the Melk man (especially at the expense of Jackson).

won't Melky move to left... and then they only have to bring back either Matsui or Damon, not both.
I guess my question is do the Yanks have anything left in the farm system. To me, this trade was easy, you are virtually trading Jackson, who you don't know if he will be successful or not, for Granderson, who is a very good player at a low, low price tag. I didn't realize that he was only going to be getting $5 million this year... I thought it was $8 or $9 million. The other 3 were guys that were never going to play for the Yanks.

Melky will move to leftfield or he'll be traded.
Granderson will probably do very well in NY but I don't like the fact that he has a low BA and that he doesn't hit lefties.

I'm still not crazy about losing Austin Jackson but what can you do... BTW, sounds like Curtis Granderson is a great guy and a terrific player

you are right... Granderson does a ton for charity... in fact, they were talking about the trade and Jalen Rose said that he was upset about this trade because he was supposed to be playing in a charity basketball game with Granderson that Granderson was putting together. I think that he will be very good for NY.
