Huge signing by Atlanta. Now they can use that high pick to shore up other parts of the team.

Knowing Atlanta's luck this means Turner blows out an ACL by week 4 and McFadden has a 1,200 yard season for New England or Dallas.

Turner is one hell of a RB IMO.

Turner is one hell of a RB IMO. He is currently sitting on my bench in a fantasy keeper league and I have the first and eight first round picks.

Yes Dave. Forget Turner, the real story here is the signing of star TE Ben Hartsock

All this means is that someone else will take McFadden increasing the (low) likelihood that the Bengals will get Gholston.

Stupid, stupid, stupid....DMac is a once in a lifetime player and the Falcons are passing on him. Why am I not surprised...
I suppose they are going DE now.

Dmac would have been drafted behind Adrian Peterson last year. Dmac is slightly faster, but not the pure runner that AP is. I think Dmac is overrated. The only reason he is rated so high, and everybody is fawning over him, is because this draft is woefully lacking in offensive skill position star power. Don't buy into all the hype. He is not a once in a lifetime talent, but he is very good.

i disagree gobucks. dmac is a rare talent. he is crazy fast and strong. i think he is better than peterson personally. He doesn't have the moves or pure running ability of Peterson.....and both run a little high, which may lead to injuries unfortunately. Taking RB's so high is always a risk. There's a reason guys built like Barry Sanders, Emmitt Smith, Payton, tend to have the longivity and success. But given both are injury free, I don't think Dmac can compete with AP.

GoBucks, do you know how many great defenses D-Mac has torched? I guess we'll find out, but he has all the tools to be an all-world back.

Hey I loved watching Dmac run in college. He was amazing, you're right. But "once in a lifetime" is a bit much, don't you think? I think AP is better, and he was drafted only last year. So that would make Dmac a "once in a year" player, IMO.
Dmac is the only great offensive skill player this draft, which is why he is getting so much hype

I only saw DMac once in person, his freshman year, but all of Sanford Stadium was a buzz over this guy who kept an overmatched team in the game. I've watched many of his games and nothing has changed. His personal life is the only potential negative in my mind. I've seen him do things seemingly impossible - you have to understand the Arkansas situation to fully appreciate his abilities. They have zero passing game. The whole world knows who is getting the ball and most teams still couldn't stop him. Plus, I watched every minute of the NFL combine and he ran a 4.27 40-yd dash - the fastest of all RB's. At his size, that is freakishly abnormal. He'll be a star IMO.

But he has 'character issues'...he's a football player that looks like a freaking demigod. But he's having sex with the women! GASP!
I've never seen such a big deal made of nothing. Get the boy some damn rubbers, smack him upside the head and tell him AIDS can stop him in his tracks faster than any linebacker ever could.

Fair enough, ATL. He is kinda freakish. The forty time was later revised to a 4.33 I believe. See, they even overrated his forty time

I wasn't aware of that...it's not a big deal, but I wonder why there was such a difference. Those timers take pride in their accuracy. I knew he ran a 4.33 in his second sprint....did they DQ his first or something?

No the first one is always unofficial, the second is the one that counts.

So he did run a 4.27, but it just doesn't count for the official results.

HARRINGTON ON THE MARKET, AGAIN
The top two quarterbacks selected in the 2002 draft are both unemployed.
Again.
A year after the Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons signed David Carr and Joey Harrington, respectively, both players are back on the market.
Carr was previously cut loose by Carolina; Harrington was cut on Wednesday by the Falcons.
Carr was the first overall pick, by the Texans, in 2002. Harrington was selected by the Lions at No. 3.
The move leaves the Falcons with only two quarterbacks under contract -- Chris Redman and D.J. Shockley.
So I guess this means your new Falcon will be....Matt Ryan?

Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if they stuck with Redman. In seven games (four starts), here are his stats:
89/149 (59.7% completion), 1,079 yards, 10 TD, 5 INT Sacked nine times (I blame the O-line for sacks mainly) Two fumbles, lost one
Not bad. His only other significant action was 2002 with Baltimore. 97/182, 1,034 yards, 7 TD, 3 INT, 5 fumbles (2 lost)
Fumble numbers are icky but otherwise... not that bad.

I don't see any way Redman will start and I thought they were going to draft a QB in the second round all along, but now I'm starting to wonder. Even if they do select a QB in the first round now, are they going to just throw him in the fire? They've got to get a veteran for the kid to learn from in year one, right? What kind of odds would I get if I wanted to bet someone David Carr signs with the Falcons by the end of the week?
