Everybody around me at work has has this crap for weeks and I've managed to avoid it-until now. I'm supposed to go see Helio Sequence with some friends tonight and now I feel like crap. Headache, coughing shit up. This really sucks.

The Flu vaccination this year is only 40% effective as they have encountered a strain the they didn't expect to be present this Flu season. Next years vaccination will be for 3 different strains and they expect it will take all year to grow the viruses to make the vaccine. I hope you can get over it fast and don't take too long to get over this.

It's everywhere down here. It hit me around Monday night and I think I'm just coming out the other side of it. I had interviews on Thursday and I was completely doped up on meds to try to get me through it. The first interview went fantastic, the second couldn't have gone worse if I was drunk. I'd be surprised if the lady understood two sentences that came out of my mouth and what they meant. When I left the office I was physically dizzy waiting for the elevator. I figured, "Well, so much for that one" and went to lunch with a co-worker from my old Citigroup office (next door to the interview). Cell phone rings and I've got two interviews with the computer research department that stemmed from the horrible second interview. She must have thought I was cute or something.

BTW, they're saying this is one of the worst winters for illness in decades, but it's not the flu. They can test to verify the flu virus and it's coming up negative in spite of the fact that it has all the flu symptoms; body aches, vomiting, temperature, coughing, etc. They're just calling it a really, REALLY bad cold. Mark and Brian did a whole show around it on Thursday and I listened to it while heading down to the interviews. They were both down with it a couple days before and everyone in the station has had it. A pediatrician who called in said it's the worst she's seen in the 20 years she's been practicing. It's a virus, but not the flu and they're saying having had the flu shot offers zero protection from it.

I had the "flu" 2 weeks ago. Talking to a guy at work who works in immunizations and he said the next flu shot will probably late as hell. Well, for the mil at least

Not the Flu but a viral infection means that the structure of the virus is not consistent with the influenza viruses that are known, basically talking shape here. The Flu virus can mutate and become a strain that they haven't seen. What I've read is that the mean strain came from Australia and they didn't expect it to be here by now but it is. They do have some problems with one particular virus strain that grows rather slowly and they have to grow that before they can kill the virus to make a vaccine out of it.

I am not sure what is going on around here but it sucks.... Starts off with a severe sinus type headache that you keep for about a week. About a day or two into it you feel like the shit has been kicked out of you, lots of sleeping, heavy congestion and coughing. Little to no fever, no vomiting or stomach issues. I know alot of people that have had it and 5 out of six in my house have had it. My wife has it right now.
It was introduced to my house by teenagers.

Yup, realize it is not the flu but so far that is about all that is going around here. It is unusual because it is like it is a severe sinus infection that is contagious. No, but they have a couple of friends of think they are playa's. They are far from it.

When I went to the doc, he said I had a sinus infection. I said bullshit. He gave me meds to treat the sinus part, but never anything to cure the cough and scratchy throat. Stupid mil docs.

PJ - if I don't go out with a smile on my face my life has been worthless - who has that thing on their underneath that says "what a ride" I've told my daughter - shake and bake and party - icky and liquor and each person has to bring the song that reminds them of me - Anyone shows up with YMCA and their ass is terrorized for my time in the twilight zone -

Me and him have drank many a cold beer..... Well his funeral was in Las Vegas at 11 in the morning and I showed up at "Moms" at 8 am and immediately went for a beer. My mother in law said " "I am so glad someone is drinking, do you think you get everyone else to start. I don't think he would want anyone there showing up sober." There weren't many there sober before or after.

I think we have been on the same prescription concerning avoiding the flu bug that is everywhere. Most of the folks I know have had it, either from their kids and schools or work. How I haven't gotten it amazes me..... must be the alcohol! Damn it.... where's my beer?

oh shit, I mean.... hell fuckin' yeah!
Seriously, that will be cool. You will eat this town up. It is built for young shits like you that somehow have their head on straight and has some plans. Yessir, you will enjoy it. It is a bit conservative but do not think that will bother you. Let me know what is going on and I'll lend you some help if need an older, out of shape skinny fat man to help you move in. But hey, I'll buy you a welcome beer, nonetheless.
Good luck, gamecock, and don't be shy to call if you have any questions or need some help. I don't have anything on the books until the middle of the month and will be glad to help any way I can!

The worst I've ever had the Flu was the season I got my only Flu vaccination (back in college during winter break, I think it was 1989 or 1990). Haven't had one since.
Back in January my entire family had some sort of virus that left us all scrambling for the bathroom for about a week. All four of us were sick at the same time. But I don't think it was the Flu.
