Last week the Braves lost Johnny Venters for the season and part of next. He just underwent his second Tommy John surgery. Now, Eric O'Flaherty has a tear and is seeing Dr. Andrews on Monday. Looks bad. That means that 2/3 of the Braves big time bullpen is sidelined. This is not some middle reliever that can be called up from Gwinnett. O'Flaherty and Venters have been the setup men for Kimbrell for the last couple of years.
The team just got back Jason Heyward and Brian McCann. Freddie Freeman missed a couple of weeks and last night was the first time all year they had all their regulars. Now this. Most teams go through it at various times.

You think the Braves have problems, how would you like to be an Astros fan. They have lost some fans over the TV coverage. They made a deal with NBC/Comcast and most viewers are not getting coverage. (AT&T U verse, Direct TV, Dish and some local providers are not carrying the NBC/Comcast coverage. It would cost the other providers a charge that was not there last year. The Rockets are in the same deal so the Houston fans that don't have Comcast as there provider - cannot see the games.
So the Astros who are having the worst season in pro baseball, plus the fact that they moved to the American League - has squeezed the profits for the new owner of the Astros. Poor baby.

Yeah, what had been a real good franchise has really gone down the tubes. That is a shame.

That is bad news for the Braves. Do have to wonder though if their extreme use in recent years had an effect on the health of their arms (think it was two years ago that they were severely overused).
Your thoughts BD?
