LSU has will have 2 more 5 star prospects in this class and another 4 star. They should move up to #4 or #5.

USC is about the same place they always are this time of the year, 14 commits and a 4.00 average, but I'm seeing much less chatter. There's a number of seniors leaving and I expected to see more juniors declare, but the juniors mostly have not pursued the draft process. I would think with the defense and offensive skill positions loaded with Fr and So, this season recruiting could focus on the lines. That's where most of the seniors will be lost.
Just looking at the list and that appears to be the case. Of the 14 commits so far, 6 are offensive linemen and 1 is a defensive lineman. Only 3 offensive skill guys, a 4 star WR, a 3 star RB and a 5 star ATH.

Auburn is 15th.. I think Auburn is getting late to the game especially with a shift in the offense. I am sure they want to go after a few receivers but it will be difficult with an unproven system at Auburn.

What happened to the Gamecocks? Spurrier pulled in a nice class last season.

Well, we are going to have a smaller class this year. Also, USC didn't really pick up momentum until this time last year. We'll have a decent class, but not top 10.

I'm back in Columbia. The city manager got fired so instead of sending me to Greenville, they moved me to Columbia and gave me the two Columbia stores and the Charleston store. As far as casa de gamecock goes, it's a fixer upper, but it is 2800 square feet. I got a steal on it, but now I have to redo it.

I like seeing Colorado and Minn doin so well. Historically good programs looking nice for the future. Though seeing Bama up so high just pisses me right off.

I dont know about no.1. USC looks to have that locked right up. They have yet to make their move. Plus I dont think they really to all to many guys last year, only like 18-22. So they prob got a tons of slots open for those top 100 guys.

I think any of the top 3 will end up at #1. There's a 300 point drop off after number 3.
I was surprised to see Arizona pulling them in. They haven't been doing very well and that's got to be one of the hottest seats in the country. What are the odds that a new guy just starting at Arizona isn't going to see a coaching change.

It doesn't matter who finishes #1, 2 , 3 etc.... Those rankings are based on total #'s.
Quality is the most important thing, not #'s. Check out the "ave. star" values. USC almost always leads in that category

USC almost always leads in that category That is debatable. Both don't tell the whole story. If a team takes a kicker they are going to drop in star rating. Majority of the time K are 2 or 3 stars even if they are tops in the country. Then you always have sleepers at smaller schools who are 2 and 3 stars.

I think 2003 was the last time someone finished with a higher average star rating than USC. You got me thinking about it so I went back and checked:
2008 4.00 2007 4.22 2006 3.96 2005 3.95 2004 4.05 2003 3.43

Im surprised Texas has 20 guys with 0 5stars. I believe they lead the nation in having top 150 guys. Prob only got 6 or 7 slots left. Less the rest that sign are all 5 star guys, it kinda looks like a down year for them just because they usually own the state of Texas in recruiting.

My point is that class size varies from year to year. Some may have 25, some 15. The important thing is you are bringing in top talent, whether 25 or 15 of 'em.
Here's where I offend. SEC schools are notorious for having huge classes, because alot of the recruits never make it in school. Auburn and Tennessee are good examples of this. Thats why the rankings are skewed. Auburn had a top 10 class last year, but something like 8 or 9 of those guys never enrolled or made the team. So, in reality, the class was not top 10 at all.......after the fact.
tOSU's class for 2008 is 2nd to USC in "ave. star" rating. It will be a small class, but better than most which will be ranked ahead of it. Better quality

Mack Brown is notorious for filling the class early and taking a lot of 3 and 2 star guys in the process. He must have great faith in his ability to spot talent over that of the scouts, and I've got to say he hasn't done too bad with it.

USC gets the best talent year after year, Sad. These other guys can brag about rankings, but USC has the highest talent level of any other school.......every year

So far the jewels in USC's class seem to be:
5* OL Matt Kalil, 6-7 281, 5.0 Matt's brother Ryan was a starter for USC a couple years back or so.
5* ATH D.J. Shoemate, 6-0 219, 4.5 Not sure what position he'd be headed to, but his build and speed makes me think power back.
5* OL Tyron Smith, 6-5 260, 5.1 Don't know anything about this guy.

I have to admit that seeing PITT that high is pissing me off...considering 2 of their highest profile kids were leaning towards WVU before Dec. 1.....
