The LSU baseball team starts the season with a 2 to 0 shutout over New Orleans. Aaron Nola pitched a 4 hit shutout for six innings as he gets off to a great start. Tigers were not so hot at bat picking up only the two runs on seven hits.
They travel to N.O. to play New Orleans tomorrow.

Last night’s win was LSU’s 13th straight in a season-opener, and was played before a paid crowd of 12,472, the second-largest attendance figure in LSU baseball history. Actual attendance was 9,229. Looks like LSU is off to a great start in attendance. It is amazing the fan base the Tigers have for college baseball. Geaux Tigers.

LSU picks up there second win of the season over New Orleans played in N.O. The Tigers scored seven runs on 13 hits and New Orleans scored 4 runs on five hits.
The bottom of the ninth was pretty interesting as true freshman Parker Bugg came in to pitch. The first batter reached on a blooper single. Bugg then hit the next batter. He struck out the next batter. Then he hit another batter to load the bases, but struck out the last two batters to get a save.
The Tigers play Grambling tomorrow in Alex Box Stadium.

We were delayed yesterday because Purdue couldn't get here in time, had a double header today and I bet they wished they stayed at home. We won 3-0 in game one, put a hurting on them in game two 20-2.

LSU wins 6 to 0 over Grambling - two wins over New Orleans and Grambling today for a season record of 3-0. LSU had two shutouts - looks like pitching could be the strength of the Tiger team this year.

Vols complete the sweep of Purdue with a 8-2 victory today. We got App state Wednesday, then UNLV next weekend. Our two very hyped Freshman pitchers looked as good as advertised. They only gave up 2 combined runs.

We will see come conference play. It's tough to learn much from opening weekend. Purdues rpi last year was 205. However, good start for ut.

You can have our spot in Hoover. We never do anything in that tournament anyhow.

If you have a good regular season record, Hoover does not mean much. If you have not had a good regular season, then winning at Hoover gets you an automatic spot in the NCAA College baseball playoffs.

For whatever reason we don't play well. I don't know if it is because there isn't urgency because we are typically in good shape prior to Hoover. I have not been able to figure it out. We will have a great reg season and go 0-2 and back home.

LSU defeats Southeastern La in Hammond tonight 7 to 4. LSU plays Virginia Tech, Toledo, and Texas Southern this weekend at Alex Box Stadium. Different from a three game series with one team.

There is an early season tournament in the Astros ballpark - Minute Maid Park that has most of the Texas Big 12 teams, A&M and a couple of out of state teams that is pretty good. There is no heating in Minute Maid, air conditioning, but no heat. I attended a game a few years back and it was colder than a witch's t-t. I think the game was between Texas Tech and Baylor and there were less than a 100 fans. We moved all over the ballpark and tried out views from many different points.
I love college baseball. I wish they would put some of the life back in the bats though. I like a few more home runs, may be not like the old days, but a happy medium at least.

The Vols beat App state to go 4-0 Wednesday, start a 3 game home series against UNLV(4-0).. Our bats are hot, but so is UNLV's pitching, this will be a big test for us. UNLV was close to being voted in the top 25. I think they were at #29

I'm ready for us to play some real games. We shut out eastern Kentucky today and have a 34 inning streak of holding opponents scoreless. Need to close out this series and get ready for Clemson.

Weird game tonight. We hit a grand slam in the 8th inning and jumped to a 8-2 lead, then the top of the 9th happened....2 down, then BAM!!! They get 5 runs with the tying run on third. We change pitchers and held them off 8-7. Crazy game, went from a pitching duel to a shoot out in an instance.
I'll take it, 5-0 with a good win over a solid club.
