That rumor started this morning out of Tallahassee and is being picked up by some in Gainesville. Not sure if it was somehow meant to head off Bolden flipping or wishful thinking (particularly in Gainesville). I would never say never because I would have said the same about Spurrier, Saban and Meyer and they all tried it...ego thing.
But Kirbs sure seems like a pure college guy. He was with Saban at Miami and saw how that went. He also has stressed how brutal it has become being a college coach these days. I just do not see it...his fiery speeches work great for the younger kids, but think would fall flat after a while with the NFL guys.

bullshit rumor, nothing more To the Bears? well.... I'd take that as long as he started drafting Georgia players, unlike Atlanta

bullshit rumor, nothing more You hope. I can remember right after Saban said how much he liked LSU - it was off to Miami. I just wonder how it would have been with all those years at LSU if he had remained. Wishful thinking for sure.

True enough, but one thing kind of separates Smart from almost everyone, to include even Saban is that he actually loves recruiting. Parents fawn over him and Highschool coaches in Georgia are amazed at the rapport he has with the kids and their families. Some schools have to recruit nationally, but Kirby does it because he loves it and never gets tired of it. I don't think he is a very big fan of the portal and even NIL, but he seems to have adapted. Anyway, I would never say never, but with the exception of Harbaugh, very few college coaches have made it in the NFL.

I don't know Kirby - but money or a lot of money does strange things to people.

I don't know Kirby - but money or a lot of money does strange things to people. Not many NFL jobs paying as much as the top college coaches. Saban, Smart and Sweeney would be in the Top Ten of NFL coaches and most of the pro guys have won at least one Super Bowl.
