On setting the record. Quite the athlete and great basketball player.

Sounds like she is going to play professionally right down the road from me in Indy. I probably won't go watch her, but she could bring some much needed excitement to that sports community.

I'd pay to watch her play.

She shoots the long three pointers - just like Piston Pete. But she gets three points whereas Pistol only received two points for the same shot. The three pointer came after Pete finished at LSU.
I am not knocking her ability - just stating a fact.

There is so many differences between Pete and Caitlin that can be discussed without degrading either one or their accomplishments.
Most people do not know that Pete did not play his freshman. At that time, Frosh were not permitted to play varsity. So, without the 3 pt line and in only 83 games (3 years), Pete scorched!
Caitlin has played in 130 games and had the 3 pt line.

Tip of the hat to her. She’s a helluva player that had a great career. To GT’s point, one player’s greatness doesn’t have to diminish another’s and vice versa.

congrats to Caitlin, but where was the hoopla 7 years ago when Kelsey Plum set the record Caitlin just broke? Plum didn't beat Pistol Pete's record. Clark beat Plum's record in less games and with a higher shooting pct, in less minutes per game, with way more rebounds, way more assists, more blocks, and more steals. The only category Plum was ahead in was less TOs.

I know I appear to be beating a dead horse, but the further I look into this, the more impressed I become with the accomplishments of Pete Maravich.
Former LSU HC Dale Brown reportedly charted every shot Pete Maravich took in college and found that if there had been a 3-point line, he would’ve averaged 57.0 points per game.
What would that equivalate to over the course of Pistol Pete’s three seasons with LSU? 4,731 career points. Caitlin Clark currently has 3,685 career points. Maravich also averaged 39.0 PPG when the NCAA didn’t allow freshman to play varsity. There was no shotclock to speed up the pace of the game either.
This is not to discredit anything Clark has done, who has no doubt been transcendent for women’s sports and basketball as a whole… but like Kim Mulkey said, it’s like comparing apples to oranges.

I was working on my MBA when Pistol Pete was a freshman. I 've told this story before. Back in those days the freshmen team played before the varsity. The Ag Center would be packed for the freshman and a lot of fans would leave before the varsity team played. Not only could Pete shoot - he could pass pretty well. He was amazing.
