There won't be many days without football this fall.
According to The Athlethic's Andrew Marchand, Fox Sports will broadcast a college football game every Friday night starting this season. Matchups will include teams from the Big Ten, Big 12, and the Mountain West.
Friday night games won't affect Fox's usual Big Noon Kickoff slot on Saturday.
Fox has aired Friday Night SmackDown since 2019, but the weekly WWE show is moving to USA Network this October. Per Marchand, Fox anticipates higher ratings from a new college football package.
The network reportedly strives to house the most-watched college games on Friday and Saturday before leading NFL viewership on Sunday afternoons.
This move would mean every day besides Tuesday and Wednesday consistently features college or NFL action. And even that's not always the case, as ESPN has televised some MAAC matchups on weeknights.
Friday games have surfaced a bit more in recent years. The Big Ten has aired on FS1 and The Big Ten Network while ESPN televised three Big 12 matchups last season.
However, this would mark the first instance of a major network broadcasting a game every Friday night.
Fox will reportedly soon announce the move to Friday night, but a schedule isn't expected to be finalized until May or later.
