Just a general question fro the board... no 'news' oranything. But do you think CFB or any of the major sports will ever start to review penalties? we already have a little of that in basktball were they now review to upgrade fouls to flagrant 1/2..... but it seems that in every sport we are always discussing a flag or a call that seemingly impacted a game that common sense would say replay/review would have easily fixed. MLB is experimenting with challenges on ball/strikes in lower levels and it seems to be positive. Although in baseball the need for an umpire is almost mute since we have the tech to call balls and strikes with computer Tech. It would remove the issues. That seems to be Baseballs only cling to the past since everything else is up for review now. basketball i think would be ore difficult since the pace of play would be completely shut down. But like the KU/Samford bullshit call that stalled it for KU, she calls should be able to be reviewed. In BAsekball would you have a "review official' on a screen buzzing down like in CFB on every play? Or challenge system? Its hard with the speed of the game plus the nature of fouls in baseball were you could call a foul almost anywhere at anytime for holding, pushing, grabbing etc.... They do review some out of bounds calls, 2/3 point determinations, clock disputes, final shots, etc.... But could they do more? Football is easy........ eh maybe not. Pi calls, Holding, and other calls change a lot of games. but again you could call that on every play.... Some thin full time officials and increased pay would help.... some argue that officials should eb held accountable and suspended/fined for bad calls.... end of game plays have never been changed after the final gun but maybe they should..... several basketball games were impacted this season with bad calls on buzzer beaters that if reviewed the winner/loser would be switched.... Or is it just apart of any sport and we move on? i know it would make things different around here.... i mean if you could review bad or no calls and get them right what would i have to bitch about?!?!?!

Good talk guys.... geez. 😂😂
Anither couple examples tonight in the NCST/Oakland game. Review clearly shows ball off NCST players finger... announcers all agree, but they give it to NCST, taking away a potential game winner from Oakland and in to OT were they lost. They call it right and Oakland MAY win..... lost of questionable calls/no calls down the stretch.
It’s time for FULL replay in sports. If a call is missed or botched, a replay official needs to make a call, on everything.
TV, camera phones, social media..... it’s all to much evidence now to ignore. We have the technology... to not use it only creates conspiracy theories and distrust.

NFL announced today that a new replay person will be apart of games next year that willl focus solely on "roughing the passer and intentional grounding"....
was there not already replay for this?

NFL also announced "hip drop tackle" now illegal..... so not sure how they will police or replay this....
I guess you just need to ask them to stop running?

I hate replay. Bad calls and bad breaks are part of the game, If we are going to computer review everything then get rid of refs all together. just make it mandatory 20 seconds between every play to let replay crew look at every thing and call all penalties seen or not. Slow the game to a crawl and fuck it up for everyone except the advertisers.

Slow the game to a crawl and fuck it up for everyone except the advertisers. I am torn on it... i mean, we have the tech.... i want things right.. its crushing when things are screwed up.... but $$$ is the big deal... there is too much at stake.. millions of $$$ change hands (not just in vegas) on games. there is so much$$$ that motives start to come in to peoples minds... rigged outcomes... etc... back before we had 40 cameras in a game catching every angle it was easier to dismiss..... going back to the "immaculate reception" days... i mean what if we had more cameras on that play? and it showed it hitting the ground and we had no replay? it wouldn't be a topic of argument, it would be "the game was rigged!"...... Football is one thing..... but baseball a judgement calls you out.... in bastkball a judgment awards you points and kicks you out of games.... But $$$ is the driving issue now that wins and losses mean millions.... not just bragging rights for fans. as far as computers... balls and strikes are the one area that kinda make since first. why argue? thrown in the box... if not, its a ball.. but would yo get more walks or more strikeouts? I would think players would start to take more pitches hoping for walks.. don't know. maybe rule changes instead of replay?

Anyone watch the Cubs/Rangers game last night?
it was a perfect example of how replay in sports has gone far, but not far enough.
In the 9th inning alone you had some major issues that addressed replay.
1. you can't review a check swing- This was key in that the Cubs got a player on base due to an incorrect call that could not be reviewed. the player swung and was out. but was not called so.
2. Foul ball/tip not reviewable- Later that inning the Cubs took a 3-2 lead in the top of the 9th on a CLEAR foul ball the was called a wild pitch. the TX catcher pleaded with the ump that it was foul and did not go get the ball... the Cubs runner took advantage and scored. The replay wasn't even close, the ball was hit foul and then off the glove of the cater. the game should have been 2-2.
Luckily Karma stepped in and the Rnagers hit a HR in the bottom of the 9th to tie it.
then the NEW RULES came into play were this year a 'ghost runner'' starts on 2nd base in ever extra inning. TX eventually walked it off in the 10th with the catcher redeeming himself in the walk-off single.
This just went to show that some major new rules are in play in some sports.....but that major errors in seemingly easy to review spots are not getting fixed....
a foul ball is an easy review.... a check swing is also an easy review...... to not do them is stupid.

Do not agree at all. People bitch about games being too long and now we really are considering adding more replays? It is sheer lunacy.
And naturally, it would be Texas who got the short end of the officiating last night. How shocking?

They should ditch replay altogether. However with the millions invested in it; that will never happen. It’s impossible to get subjective calls right 100% of the time whether you use replay or not. Replay makes the game experience worse for fans.

CUT COMMERICALS.... replay doesn't make games longer. In fact... replay would ahve SHORTENED the TX game last night and several games by 30 mins to and hour in cases were the game would ahve beenOVER if the correct call was made. do not use that lame "the game is too long" as an excuse for getting the game WRONG. cut commercials.... thats what kills the game.... not replay.

That is another Don Quixote take. Replay take out the swing of a game just like commercials. The only red herring is your take on this.

There is a fine line to walk, but once you cross it, can you get it back?

There is a fine line to walk, but once you cross it, can you get it back? There is a 40 second play clock in the NFL.. similar sitution in CFB.... in between plays. we have the technology to review plays quickly. i realize that reviewing every play for holding, Pi, etc.. is going to be impossible. You can call it on every play... but there needs to be the ability in key moments to review things that impact the game.... maybe just scoring plays? Maybe 3 coaches challenges that can be used to review a play for such? In basketball, the officials ALREADY control the flow of the game........ whistles stop play..... and then they award points. its already a pace of play issues and they still get calls wrong. baseball is the one game were a computer assisted Strike Zone or Challenge system wouldn't effect pace of play. They are doing it in the minors. You can challenge a ball/strike call instantly and shown not he big jumbo screen..... we can see the foul tips, safe/out calls On TV instantly... tis not hard to be speedy about it.
