....to honor the Hokie Nation. I like the idea of keeping it simple but very respectfull.

After consulting with officials at Virginia Tech, LSU has come up with a plan to honor the school before Saturday’s game in Tiger Stadium.
It is the Hokies’ first road game since the April 16 campus shooting that claimed the lives of 33 students and faculty members, the deadliest shooting rampage in U.S. history.
LSU senior associate athletic director Herb Vincent said after the teams leave the field following pregame warmups three skydivers will land in the stadium. One will carry a Virginia Tech flag, one will carry an LSU flag while the third will carry an American flag.
After the LSU band plays its pregame fanfare, Vincent said there will be a moment of silence for the victims. The LSU band will then perform Virginia Tech’s alma mater, LSU’s alma mater, then the national anthem.
Before the game, the Louisiana secretary of state’s office will present a quilt to the Virginia Tech alumni association during its pregame rally at LSU’s Carl Maddox Field House. Vincent said the quilt is comprised of squares made by people from the secretary of state’s office, LSU students and three Tigers offensive linemen: Herman Johnson, Ciron Black and Carnell Stewart.
Vincent said LSU officials have worked to strike the right tone with the pregame observances.
“We want to be respectful, but not excessive,” he said.

Thanks for sharing that with me, GT. That's real nice.
Personally, I just want my Hokies to play football, and not have all this emotional heavy stuff put on their already loaded shoulders. Playing a football game (especially one at LSU) is going to be tough enough..... no need to add anymore to the already heavy load. These guys need to mentally, as well as physically, prepared. While all of the "remembrance moments" are appreciated, I also think it can be detrimental to the players psyche. Just my opinion.

I was thinking the same thing Hokie Girl. It is great that everyone is trying to understand and support the Hokie Nation, but I think the team needs to be allowed to focus on football.

I agree with the both of you, but feel LSU is obligated to do something....and they are. Keeping it simple addresses both thoughts I guess.

I think it's a classy way to show respect for two great teams. LSU is one of my favorite teams and this just adds to my appreciation of their program.
