I'm aware this isn't a baseball board. I don't need to be educated on such matters, but I heard something this morning about Rick Ankiel being debated as to whether or not he was juiced up now since he's making MLB pitchers look like my old high school team and putting up Triple Crown stats.
I just kinda sorta think it's sad now that whenever anyone has success...especially someone who's had so much career failure and has been the asscrack of ESPN jokes for a good year and a half before it died down gets questioned for substance abuse the 2nd he revives his career? Could he not just actually be a good baseball player?
By the way BigRed...the Cubs...they're slippin. Like a coke fiend the first few days of rehab.

Teddy ... there will always be questions that come with success. Never with failure.

I think it may have more to do with the supposed shipping receipts some media outlet got a hold of that showed HGH being shipped to him. Or maybe it was flak seed oil...

Yeah, but he didn't knowingly do it. The way when I was in college when someone handed me a joint I didn't ask if it was laced with anything. Wait, that makes it OK, right?
Love, Barry

The thing about Ankiel is if you watch all 9 Homer's he's hit since he's been back up to the bigs, almost if not all of them are on inside fastballs. Most players w/ limited ability can hit a fastball...especially on the inner half. Would you rather pitch to Rick Ankiel or Albert Pujols?

I'd rather pitch to Pujols. I don't feel like such a useless dildo giving up HR's to that guy.
The fastball is about all anyone can throw goose. In case you haven't noticed, all these ballooning ERAs are from guys who were signed @ age 17 b/c they could throw 98 miles an hour. And not do shit else. Why do ya think Maddux is still around? I can toss as fast as that guy. But I can't paint the inside corner. Fuck, I can't hit the ump if he was standing over the plate with no protection.

The Cubs need to trade Dempster..and now... Despite that..the Cubs WILL make the playoffs.... Check the quote under my avatar...

You think it must be aggravating being a Cubs fan...imagine Brewers folks bud. NEVER in the playoffs, have a golden opportunity this year (IE: St. Loo isn't in god mode) and still are finding a way to squander it away. THe Cards will probably go. I can't stand them more than the Cubs.

I can't stand them more than the Cubs. I feel for the Brew crew. I know they aren't used to playoff contention and I think they can stay in the race next year also. I'm definitely not counting them out this year, but I just don't think have enough experience to do so. I believe the winner of the division will be determined by that last Cards/Cubs series of the year.

I still think the Pirates will make a run here, but that's just me.

The Reds got hot there for a 2nd. Then they realized what we all knew...they're still the REDS.
Gotta question the Cubs picking up Steve "blow job" Trachsel as the season savior. Don't understand that decision. I know he used to play there, but I wouldn't call that a deft GM move.
And by the way, since when do the Pirates wear orange?

Well, apparently, Steve Trachsel was doing pretty well as of late with the orioles. I wouldn't call him our savior...We really need that offense to get going.
I have no idea about the Pirates wearing orange. I've seen them wear those uniforms on occasion, but they are ugly as heck..

Well, there's always 1 division every year where it seems no one wants to win it. It appears the NL Central is that place this season. Beware of the Bucs though, they always screw 2-4 teams over every year with their inspired "hey, now that we're out of it let's beat the piss out of teams!" attitude.

lol.. The NL Central was also that division last year.. but if the Central team that makes the playoffs gets hot at the right time, they could end up winning another World Series...baseball is so unpredictable, I love it...

You need good-above average hitting on a consistent basis thru the season and you need good ass pitching in the playoffs, b/c no one can hit a beach ball it seems after early October. Wish the Tigers were in the NL central. Then we might have a chance.

Other than the Reds. They want the Sox (white), Royals, Nationals, Orioles, and D-Rays in theirs. And if the Sox get hot, the right to substitute the Rangers in @ any time.

lol..The Orioles.... When I think Orioles, I always think of 30-3 plus no hitter w/in a month..

To Texas no less. Not even to a respectable team. Not that losing 30-3 is good on any level, but when it comes @ the hands of a team that I think has about 15 wins...it looks even more depressing.

I think there are about 15 guys in the majors named Ramon Vazquez?
I think Will Clark hit a home run in that game. Everyone went off.
