Thanks maestro....I was in Real's stadium a couple of weeks ago. Liverpool just scored again with Steven Gerrard. I think the world's greatest soccer club is about to exit the Champions League. Other half time procedings. My boys (Bayern Munich) are trouncing Sporting Lisbon again, 4-1 at the half. They won 5-0 in Lisbon two weeks ago. And Juve and Chelsea are tied at 1-1. Juve needs to beat them by 2 goals to advance.

why maestro?
Also Bayern now leads 5-1 and Juve has scored to lead Chelsea 2-1, but they still need one more to win on aggregate.

Wow...Bayern now leads 7-1.....TD and xpoint good. ;D
And Liverpool is hammering Real. Madrid has won more Champions League trophies than any other club, but they will not be adding one this year.

awesome! I guess I should watch more tv. I'll watch those if they don't conflict with class, especially Lyon / Barcelona. btw, u know of any satellite channels that carry Ligue 1? Setanta sports used to carry them but not this season. I want to watch my team make a run at the title but I can't find a damn channel that shows them!

You bastard! those games are on espn classic, which I don't get! plus I'm in class while they're on, so I can't even go the bar to watch it. It's lonely being a soccer fan...

Thank God for Paradise. Here I can say, with no fear of pissing everybody off, that I give less than a shit about soccer. Well....I'll probably piss soccer fans off but hey........nothing a few cold ones can't fix:)

If I'm not mistaken, it's the previous scores between two clubs. Like if Lyon and Barca have played twice before and the scores were 2-0 and 1-1, the aggregate would be 3-1. Correct me if I'm wrong bigdawgs.

reno, The Champions League, once they get to the Sweet 16 play home and home. The winners advance to the Quarter Finals. Today Bayern and Liverpool advanced easily having both won on the road as well as at home. In the case of Chelsea and Juventus Turin, aggregate "almost" came into play. If each team wins one game or if they both tie, then they total the goals for each team. Chelsea beat Juve 1-0 in Chelsea two weeks ago. In today's return match in Turin they tied. Had Juve won 2-1, Chelsea would still have advanced. Although the goal total would have been the same (2 each), Chelsea would get a big advantage because away goals are worth twice as much. In today's game Juve led 1-0 until just before half time. When Chelsea scored in the last minute it was like getting two goals since it was an away game. To advance at that point, Juve would have had to win by two goals. It is a difficult system to understand and it has drawbacks. But it also has advantages. In the first game no team is confident about sitting on a lead and it is also beneficial for a team that is on the road to score as many goals as possible even if they are going to lose the game. Hopefully that explains aggregate goals in the Champions League.
