The way it appears now, 6-11 Kansas basketball star Cole Aldrich, a sophomore, will return for his junior season with the Jayhawks rather than declare for June's NBA draft. That could mean passing up a $7 million, two-year guaranteed contract as a top-10 pick by the pros next season. "Money isn't everything," Aldrich's father, Walt, a laid-off union sheet-metal worker, said Saturday. "Money's only money." Cole Aldrich said Saturday he's not thinking about the NBA now.

At least that's the rumor after seeing him repeatedly clicking together the heels of his ruby hightops.

Great news for the Hawks. Not terribly surprised by it. Cole's game is not ready for the NBA. While he has some great instincts and (for as ugly as his shot his) an effective mid-range game, he needs to improve his shot making ability on the blocks, continue to add strength and improve his on-ball defense. With the recruiting class coming back next year, if Cole comes back (I'm assuming Sherron is gone) KU should still be an early season favorite to compete for a title, and be a top 5 team coming out of the blocks.
