UConn coach Jim Calhoun missed the top-seeded Huskies' 103-47 victory over Chattanooga in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Thursday at the Wachovia Center. Feeling ill as morning turned to afternoon, he was admitted to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and was to remain there overnight. Several program sources said Calhoun, as of Thursday evening, fully expected to be at practice today and coaching the Huskies in the second round Saturday against Texas A&M. Calhoun, 66, who has missed all or part of 21 games in his career because of illness or surgery, was said to potentially be stressed, weak and not eating well. Concern is always heightened and further observation recommended for someone of Calhoun's age. By all accounts, Calhoun did not watch UConn's victory. Team spokesman Kyle Muncy communicated during the game with Anderson, UConn's director of sports medicine. Anderson remained with Calhoun. At one point, Anderson asked Muncy, "How are we doing?"

I heard rumor that Calhoun is suffering from cancer.
Hopefully this is false....but he has been "sickly" lately....and didn't he just have something similar happen not to far back?
Again, I hope the "c" word rumor is just that.....

He's had cancer twice in the past. Everything I've heard is that the hospital has released him and said he is ok.

Well that is good news that the hospital released him. And that he has been able to fight cancer twice already.
