Neither University of Georgia president Michael Adams nor athletics director Damon Evans has discussed the vacant Georgia basketball coaching job with rumored candidate Anthony Grant, a UGA official said today. Georgia associate athletics director Claude Felton was responding to an Internet site's report that Adams offered the job to Grant, the Virginia Commonwealth coach, over the weekend. Grant's team was eliminated from the NCAA tournament by a 65-64 loss to UCLA on Thursday. Alabama was granted permission to speak to Grant by VCU athletics director Norman Teague, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

Well then they're stupid.
Grant was Matt Foley's (and Gator fans) first choice to replace BD when he 'left.'
He is going to be a great coach at a big school. I almost hope he doesn't for to UGA, but he's a great guy and deserves a shot at a big time school. UGA should snatch him up.

I think this is the "normal" pre-hire maneuvering. I am sure they have talked. I am sure Evans wants to wait until all possible options have been laid out. He is bound and determined to find a coach who can improve our dysfunctional basketball program. I suspect he is going to be the next coach in Athens but it might be a week or so before we get firm answers.

I know Bama received permission from VCU's AD to speak with Grant. They should be interviewing him today I believe.

I hope they get him as well. I believe he could make us one of the top programs in the SEC.
Really if he can get us in the tourney basically every year, with a nice run every 3-4 years I would be happy.

Grant would be a good hire, shocked more people haven't looked at Brad Stevens from Butler either.

That would be an excellent hire. Good luck!
