I am sitting here watching SC and all they talk about is the amenities at the stadium.
The locker room is much better (touch screen computers, chefs, state of art training equipment, etc.).
Now if they could just overhaul their team that way to make them great again the Yankees would be all the way back...
I guess I am bitter I didn't get to see a game at Yankee stadium (or perhaps am too nostalgic).
Also talked about some type of great restaurant there...but when I go to a baseball game I want a hot dog, nachos, peanuts, pop, and a beer. I don't need the fancy stuff... its a baseball game!

I'm with ya... old Yankee Stadium was neat b/c of the history and what not... if this one is interesting b/c of a restaurant and some kid friendly video game rooms... I'll stick with PNC Park and Camden Yards on top of my list of best ballparks...

How about how small that park is playing?
Sizemore hit a routine flyball that was a grand slam to right. That thing is a band box (oops!).
On pace (will never happen) to give up 400 HRs. Last year the Old Yankee Stadium gave up under 175.

Last year the Old Yankee Stadium gave up under 175. They've been talking all weekend about the number of pop flys that are carrying out for homers. I'm not a fan of the Yanks at all, but really enjoyed the old Yankee Stadium. Certain ballparks should not be torn down. Enhanced, but not torn down.

I am convinced that I could hit one out of the New Yankee Stadium. It is playing like a mere bandbox.

I hear Selig wants to talk with the Mets and Yanks about the lack of filled seats at the prime levels behind home plate. Evidently people are rather reluctant to pay upwards of $2500 per ticket and the games look half empty when on TV.
I really wished they wouldn't have used taxpayer money for those parks.

People can't afford to pay for 2500 dollar seats? That place looks great, but the amount ridiculous amount of material excess that is there is almost enough to make you sick. The Yankees are not playing great and their stadium is not playing like it should (oops?!).

maybe my hatred for New York and the Yankees is fueling the fire but that stadium pisses me off I sort of doubt it. I don't like the Yankees, as a matter of fact I really dislike them. However, I am still a little upset that I didn't get to see a game in the House that Ruth built. Even though I didn't like their team I did love the lore and the tradition of their stadium.

BTB,
You'll appreciate one of my stories from Yankee Stadium. I've been there numerous times, but one time I was able to score seats in one of the luxury boxes. Along with the tickets to the luxury box were passes to the Yankees Club which was the club level Restaurant and Bar.
The guys that I was with decided to head down in the 5th inning to check it out as the Yanks were clubbing the Royals and guess who was at the bar when we got there.
None other than Jerry Seinfeld himself......the place was virtually empty. We didn't want to bother him for autographs as he was with 5 other people and none of us were into autographs. However, he acknowledged us on the way out and stopped and said hello.
It was one of my favorite Yankee Stadium memories and I loathe the Yanks! ;D

Sweet story Toph!
Gotta love the Sein! I really do wish they would not have torn down the Old Yankee Stadium. I know it needed repairs and some of the facilities were falling behind, but that type of charm is something you don't tear down IMO.
Yogi Berra said it the best when he said the locker room was too big. Too big dilutes some of the team building. Damn I sound like an old man, but really believe it. Doesn't seem to be too much of a problem in Fenway or Wrigley...

Now places like the Vet in Philly and Three Rivers in Pittsburgh were horrendous and needed to go. Hell I even liked old Tigers Stadium when I went there. Now it sits half torn down and is an eye sore. Terribly sad. I went to Fenway last year for the first time. It wasn't a "comfortable" place to watch the game, but the history and architecture of the old park was awesome. Not to mention sitting 15 rows behind home plate didn't hurt either. ;D

The worst part is you can't say well I am standing in the same area as player X. Or this play happened right here, etc.
Maybe I am too nostalgic...

36 Homeruns in 10 games at the New Yankee Stadium. That is just crazy to me, that they could misjudge how the stadium would actually play. The place is almost empty for a Yankees-Red Sox games. Perhaps they should lower the ticket prices (there is like 1 person behind the plate). I suppose I can stress again how much I hate that they tore down the Old Yankees Stadium...

I was flipping through the channels last night and was amazed at the number of empty seats for a Yanks/Saux matchup. Team isn't playing well and nobody is coming to watch. I love it!!

This place is still giving up homers that it should not. The rate is alarming.
I think the Yankees will try to fix in the offseason (change the airflow by closing a part of the stadium) or raising the fence or something.
Maybe I am just bitter because I never got to go to the Old Stadium. Never got to watch a game where the pitcher was throwing from the same location as Don Larson's perfect game in the World Series, etc.

I was at the old stadium numerous times. The first time I was there, I was amazed and thought it was great. The second, I thought it was OK, and that downhill trend continued for me... maybe the Sox fan in me.
Also, I am not sure how they would fix that other than the air flow. Is the other stadium still up or is it already down. If it is still up, when they tear that down, it will create even more airflow, but to left field. Maybe that will create some sort of equilibrium affect or something. Who knows, but the Sox and Yanks each hit HRs last night that were line drives to right field that possibly wouldn't have made it to the wall at Fenway... but what can I say about that, we have the Monster in left that everyone loves to play wall ball with.

cant wait to see the tally on how many home runs are hit at the new Yankee stadium this year. and then to see all the other parks and their totals.
they need goose and maverick up in the RF seats with a jet engine blowing back onto the field.

from YanksBlog
The right field wall is shorter by an average of 4-5 feet, but as much as 9 feet in certain areas and the wall itself is approximately 2 feet less than at the old stadium. Accordingly, their research indicates that 19% of home runs hit this season, at the stadium, would not have left the old park. This is about 20 out of the 105 that have been hit out of the yard.
On the current pace, they point out, 293 home runs would be hit at Yankee Stadium this season.
HAAAA 293 !!
