I turned down a ticket to the Phil/Boston game tonight. I was really torn, but Philly is about 3 hours away and I am teeing off at 7 AM tomorrow with some college friends that are in town. I could come back tonight and be home by 2 AM or I could stay down there and get up at 4 AM and come back. Neither really intrigued me enough to make the call.
I'm starting to feel old b/c 5 years ago, I would have done it in a heartbeat.
Fortunately, the guy that offered the ticket has a partial season tix package, so I'm sure I'll get there at some point in the season.

I could understand if it was the Pirates but this is the Boston Red Sox I know! I know! My bud that has the ticket is giving me the same rash of shit and FTR that is why I'm torn. The fan in me says to man up and do it, but I have no desire to get up at 4 AM and drive back. I know that I wouldn't just go to the game and leave. I'm sure we'd go out for a bit afterwards. Any way you slice it, it's going to be a long night/early morning that I don't think I have in me any more. Ugh. I'm officially washed up.

Toph,
I know what you are feeling. Back in 1991, I was in Fort Worth, Texas and the Rangers, because of Desert Storm, were giving anyone with a military ID free tickets in the outfield bleachers. Nolan Ryan was pitching and I wanted to go. I couldn't get anyone to go with and about 2 minutes before time to leave I decided to not go solo.
May 1, 1991. Nolan's 7th and last no-hitter. I am an ass. Since then, I never turn down free tickets and always take the opportunity to go. Always.

Phils lost anyways and I would have been dog tired teeing off at 7 am as I probably wouldn't have gotten home before 3 AM. At least I played a good round (by my standards anyways). Shot an 82.

DUH... of course they did. The good news, they did something that the Yanks haven't been able to do so far this year, that's win a game this season.

Saving the wins for the WS. ;D they can slug their way through the NL, but won't be able to do it in the WS... they will have to get their pitching in order for that series... but have a really good shot at doing that.

They had to do that last year as well. Unfortunately, the youngsters (Bastardo and Happ) got roughed up a bit. I like how Blanton is pitching right now, but I think by the end of the year, the young guys will have found their groove.

Actually, I told her that was where I was heading and gave her the option to go. At the time, I didn't really care one way or the other. That's when I knew she was going to be something special. ;D
