Did you see this article/blob regarding Bo Ryan. I thought it was pretty interesting. I will be interested to see if Bo himself learns anything from this experience and brings any of it back hom to his Badger team, much the way Coach K openly admitted learning alot as head coach of Team USA and has since incorporated many principles he learned coaching the pros in his Duke program (something he had NEVER done before having that experience): uwbadgers.com/blogs/default.aspx?postid=2151

Good stuff, I do think that he'll bring something back that he might use, as most coaches do when they are able to work closely with a lot of experienced coaches from all around the world.

Bo is just getting asked to coach these types of teams. Seriously, it's usually a good experience for the college coaches to get exposed to the international game.

Not just the coaches though. Sometimes when your able to coach that type of talent and athleticism it puts a different spin on how you COULD be coaching at your own program. I don;t buy into the theory that Bo JUST recruits "system" players, I think that is B.S., but that doesn't mean he might not tweak some things based on the roster of talent he has now or in the future. Two years ago, even before Butch got hurt, I thought the team peaked too soon and it was partially because I thought Bo was "letting them play" so to speak and it seemed like the leash was getting tighter the longer the season wore on. I am hoping this type of experience helps Bo grow and allows his team to grow as well. Love Bo, wouldn't want any other coach but even good coaches can still learn

Love Bo, wouldn't want any other coach but even good coaches can still learn The season that Bo let them play the most IMO was the season before then. The team was super deep, and athletic, and actually about midway through the season was averaging about 80 points a game, and then Stiemsma, and Landry got into academic problems really hurting the teams depth. If I had to guess, I don't think it will change the defense that much. Bo has played I believe one possesion of zone defense in his career, the other team scored, and he's never played it again. I could see it having him loosen the team a bit offensively, but if he were to do that I'm expecting Rob Wilson and Jordan Taylor to play more or maybe start this season, which I would be all for.

I am not necessarily expecting Bo to change to a zone defense. I think his man-to-man help style defense wroks pretty well over all. I also like the swing offense. I do do think Bo has a propensity to "over coach" on occasion though. My brother-in-law is a coach and he says that ine very season there is a point and time to teach and a point in time to just "let them play" he says Bo's problem has always been knowing when to just "let them play", he never stops teaching to the bitter end and sometimes that gives players the yipes. I love Bo, wouldn't want anyoen else in charge but I think the B-I-L has him pegged on that one, JMHO
