It's very rare I get pissed or even a little mad and even all the Obama talk concerns me but never - ever makes me mad. But this pisses me off to no end -
SAN FRANCISCO -- A federal judge says that a convicted terrorist can sue a former Bush administration lawyer for drafting the legal theories that led to his alleged torture.
The order by U.S. District Judge Jeffrey White of San Francisco is the first time an administration lawyer has been held potentially liable for the abuse of detainees.
White refused to dismiss Jose Padilla's lawsuit against former Justice Department attorney John Yoo on Friday. Yoo wrote memos on interrogation, detention and presidential powers for the department's Office of Legal Counsel from 2001 to 2003.
The 38-year-old Padilla is serving a 17-year sentence on terror charges. He claims he was tortured while being held nearly four years as a suspected terrorist.
Thoughts?

Just another dumbass lawsuit that will serve the system, itself. You know, I remember when I was younger, you didn't see ads on television for lawyers. It was considered immoral, unethical, and illegal, in most places. Now, you can't watch for an hour, without seeing a couple commercials from lawyers. They even have commercials that give you a number to call, and they will hook you up with a doctor and lawyer, at the same time. All that matters, anymore, is the dollar, and it doesn't matter how frivolous, or stupid, a case may be, if it will generate dollars to the legal system and its constituents, it will be heard.

The US has the most lawyers of any country. Like 75% more than #2 on the list. What do you expect?

What do you call 1000 lawyers on the bottom of the Ocean?
A good start.

What do you call 1000 lawyers on the bottom of the Ocean? A good start. Be careful now...I wouldn't throw Layla to the bottom of the ocean. And grouping all lawyers into the category of bad guys that bring frivolous lawsuits to the system is a bit misguided IMO. My father, who is a real estate lawyer, wouldn't fit in this group...

This smells like more work of the Federal 9th Circus Court. The San Francisco by-line would seem to confirm that. The 9th Circuit Court should be disbanded it's so radical.

I didn't know that they tourtured at the brig in Charleston. The judge has to be a real dirtbag to believe this shit.
Solve the problems in the future and quit taking prisoners. Raise the black flag.

It is in Pelosi's district, what would you expect? Stupid Bitch The 9th Circuit isn't "Pelosi's district", it's most of the western United States. It just happens to sit in S.F., same as the 9th District of the Federal Reserve.

He is just a Federal Judge in the Northern California District. Funny thing is GWB put him on the bench.

The significant impact of the case and the city led me to assume it was already to the 9th Circuit court. Funny thing is, the 9th Circuit court itself has far more cases over-turned through appeals than any other circuit court.
