Friday morning I woke up to a completely flooded house. Apparently, the washer decided to malfunction in the middle of the night and overflowed. Hundreds of gallons of water made its way out of the laundry room into the kitchen, dining room and living room. I spent the whole weekend trying to dry everything out. To make things worse, the floor drain in the laundry room was covered by a pile of clothes that my wife was getting ready to wash so the drain was useless. This Weekend SUCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!

Never that much, but it overflowed one night while no one was around and ran for 30 minutes or so. Not long after we had moved in, and were getting a lot of silt from the well. Jammed up the solenoid that shuts the water off. Put a filter on the inflow pipe before it comes in the house and hasn't happened since.

Make sure to check the hoses for bubbles. I never had this happen, but one day I was driving between appointments, and just happened to be near my home. I thought I would stop by. I was there for no less than 5 minutes, and heard a "pop" and heard running water. The pipe that connects the water to the toilet in the bathroom happened to break, and it was rushing out like a geyser. Had I not been there, the whole house surely would have been flooded by the time I was supposed to come home.

Sounds to me like someone was watching out over you and sent you to the house. Dealing with a flooded house sucks. Thank God it was clean water that I was cleaning up. I can't imagine what sewage or flood water would have done to the carpets.

twice, actually........ once from a split washer hose (basement) an once a toilet inlet (upstairs) both times I had been away for the weekend and came home to find 4 inches of water in the basement (& 2 inches upstairs w/ the toilet).... since it was late both times, all I could do was turn off the water & wait until the AM & call the clean-up folks...... thank God for homeowners insurance....
