Do we have anyone on CFBParadise currently serving in the Theater of Operations? If someone does, could you please send me a PM and I can provide my AKO address (Army email).
Many of the units my Church and my Vets Group are supporting with CARE packages are returning to the US or Germany this month. While this is great news for them, we are running short of service members to support.
Many of those on my current lists came from POCs at CBS who were serving. Naturally, they did not know me from Adam, but when I sent them my AKO address they knew it was legit. We have probably sent 100 packages to troops by using College Football Guys, like TexNole, G8r in Iraq, and Auburn Soldier.
Anyway, let me know if you are over there or have troops we can help out.
Thanks, BD.

We frequently have guys over there, but at the moment I don't think there are any. At least none of the regular guys who would say it on the board.

fiasco,
Just in email a list of servicemembers and their unit/APO Address that could use packages of personal hygiene and snack items.
But I would only communicate it via my Army Knowledge on Line account to ensure folks realize this is on the up and up. Plus, when I get a POC in theater I ask them to clear it with the servicemember, because sometimes you run into someone who doesn't necessarily want anything. Normally, I use a good NCO to do this because they know their troops better than anyone else.

BAmaMan,
Not me. Folks from my Church came to me after the AJC had done an article on our Vets Group. I briefed our Priest and expected to be sending about 8 or so packages a month. It has grown into a monster with anywhere from 30-60 a month. The response has been overwhelming and the response I get from troops on my AKO account is posted in the Church Bulletin. This thing has taken on a movement of its own....but it is a real pleasure and besides, what else does a retired old fart like me to do anyway. ;D

Loadtoad was making preps to deploy...He didn't say what date but implied around this time frame I think you're right. Pretty sure he said he was going to miss part of the CFB season as well while deployed.

I am pretty sure that he is. When he was on a while ago I sent him a PM and he said he was leaving in May. I am not sure if he has access to the computer, and hasn't been on in a while. Hope he comes back soon.
