It is really fun to watch unlike MLS you see more than 1 adequate player on each team and the passing is just so much fun to watch. Today was such an improbable day.

I love it but the Confederation Cup is not my "cup of tea". I like the Euro Championships and the World Cup. I like the Bundesliga, Premiership, Serie A and the Spanish League as well as the Championsleague

I like it and I have been watching the Confederations Cup, unfortunately the US Open is kind of a father's day tradition for my dad at our house so that was on all day so I missed the USA-Egypt game.
From what I understand the USA did just enough to advance. Considering the draw they got in their pool super powers Italy and Brazil and then compunded that witht he first half (B.S.) redcards tyhey got in btoh games, it's nice to see they got out of pool play.
I will say that I am not happy that Bradley is not giving more playing time to the younger players. Most of the younger guys are more skilled and getting more international experience than some of his older players. One example, please oh please get Landon Donovan out of the line up. he's terrible, he's not a team players, he used to be really fast but that wains with each passing year and his skill is not even close to that of gys like Altidore, Adu, and others. I knwo the USA needs to qualify for the World Cup, so play it "safe" in qualifying games, but for EVERYTHING else get the yongs guys in and start preparing a squad that can actually compete in 2010 and 2014

Bradley has played bad all tourney and I agree that Adu and Torres should get much more time but Dempsey though he scored was good aweful yesterday he was getting the ball taken away from him like 3/4 of the times he touched it, it was just a pathetic display other than that U.S.A played well
As for Donavan, he didn't finish by himself but he created about 6 very good chances just by himself against Egypt and was 2 times faster than anyone else getting around his guy with ease, the one main problem with U.S yesterday was the outside backers they were chasing from behind too often

I'd like to be there and watch, but from the women I've seen that attend these matches, I would have my back to the field staring at the stands the entire time. I find it amusing when those guys get "hurt" and they run out and put them on a stretcher. Then 5 minutes later they're back on the field...ha ha.

I disagree that Adu has more skill than Donavon. As mentioned by someone else, he created around 6 opportunities on him own. The midfield as a whole though, needs to be more active on the offensive side... the US is really lacking in goal scoring opportunities.

He created against Egypt, hardly an impressive feat. Look what he did against Italy and Brazil, nothing. Donovan still has speed, I mentioned it above, the reason he created against Egypt was Egypt lacks even US ability in skill and Donovan was able to use his speed. Adu has better foot skill by far in comparison to DOnovan and Adu is still learning and getting better. Last year in the world Juniors Adu pulled off an amazing, Brazilian-esque move that ended in an assist to Altidore, Donovan couldn;t have done that move in his dreams let alone doen it against top caliber opponents in a real game

Hardly impressive? I hate when people refuse to be wrong and even when proven otherwise stick with their statement. Egypt beat Italy and didn't give up 1 goal and only lost by 1 to Brazil yes hardly impressive.

Egypt is ranked 40th in the world, the USA is ranked 14th. The uSA is hardly a super power even in international play and they get ranked 14th, how bad is Egypt that they are ranked 40th. I stand by my statement of harldy impressive. As do I........ Italy beat Egypt in every possible way except the scoreboard in that game. A blind squirrel even finds a nut sometimes. Possesion was in clear favor of the Italy, shots were 19-5 in favor of Italy, free kicks are 13-5 in favor of Italy, corners were 7-3 Italy. Yes Egypt won that particular game.... it was pure luck... congrats to them, it happens, the USA also beat Brazil once, that doesn't make me think the USA is in Brazils class game in and game out. Egypt had a nice showing in this pool play round of this tournament but beating them is not improessive to anyone that follows the game. One last thing, someone mentioned Donovan "created several chances on his own", how many did he actually score/assist on

sdsu - there are actually many fans of soccer here - not many posting during the summer.
I had the pleasure of watching a game between Real Madrid and Barcelona in Madrid with well over 100 thosand fans - I may not be a fan but I know in Europe they have love for the game.
You really have to be there.

One of the things on my life's "to-do" list is to see a match (preferably ManU-Chelsea) live... it's one of the greatest spectacles in sports. You think the noise somewhere like Death Valley or The Swamp is loud? You haven't heard ANYTHING yet.

I think international soccer is much more entertaining than what we get here in the States. To me, American soccer is like going to Europe or South America and watching American football. At best, it's it's very average by comparison.
If I were to go see a game, I wouldn't mind watching Manchester United vs. Bayern Munich. That's assuming it didn't take place during college football season. Gotta have priorities ya know.

if you look at the blue links just under the banner ad, it should say
Sadovin's Corner Market Sports Forum :: Sports :: College Football Talk :: Off Topic
click on "Sports" and you should see the board that says "Soccer"
